International Medical Corps is recruiting a Software Training Officer to support the implementation of digital health systems under the “Last Mile Shield” project in Kenya. This initiative focuses on strengthening health supply chains to ensure essential medicines and medical supplies reach underserved communities efficiently and reliably. Programme Overview The “Last Mile Shield: Fortifying Health Supply Chains through Data-Driven Insights” project addresses persistent gaps in healthcare delivery, particularly in rural areas where supply chain breakdowns lead to: Stock shortages Resource wastage Poor patient outcomes To tackle these challenges, the project will deploy a digital logistics system (PIMS) across 1,200 health facilities. This system enables real-time tracking of medical supplies from distribution points to patients, improving accuracy, accountability, and availability. The initiative is expected to strengthen healthcare delivery systems and positively impact over 5.5 million people over a four-year period. Role Summary The Software Training Officer is responsible for building the capacity of healthcare workers and supply chain staff to effectively use LMIS (Logistics Management Information Systems) software. Working under the Training Lead, the role focuses on: Designing practical, context-specific training programs Delivering hands-on training sessions Supporting system adoption through ongoing coaching Ensuring users can confidently apply digital tools in daily operations The position requires a balance of technical knowledge, facilitation skills, and a strong commitment to capacity building in low-resource environments. Key Responsibilities 1. Training Planning and Preparation Develop site-specific training plans aligned with system rollout timelines Assess user digital literacy levels and adapt training accordingly Create and update training materials such as: User guides Job aids Quick reference tools Coordinate logistics including venues, participants, and system access Ensure training environments are functional prior to sessions 2. Training Delivery and Field Support Facilitate engaging, hands-on training for health facility and warehouse staff Adapt delivery methods for diverse audiences, including multilingual and mixed-literacy groups Provide on-site coaching during system rollout (“go-live”) phases Conduct refresher training sessions where needed Respond to user questions and challenges during and after training 3. Adoption Monitoring and Follow-Up Track system usage and user adoption post-training Identify facilities or users with low adoption rates Provide targeted follow-up support to address gaps Conduct site visits or remote check-ins to reinforce learning Escalate persistent issues with recommendations for improvement 4. Documentation and Continuous Improvement Maintain records of training sessions and participant performance Document user feedback and recurring challenges Update training materials based on field insights and system changes Prepare reports and handover notes after rollout phases Share lessons learned to improve future training approaches Candidate Profile Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in: Health informatics Pharmacy Information systems Education or related field At least 3 years’ experience delivering training on: Digital health systems Information systems Supply chain software Experience supporting system rollouts in field-based or low-resource environments Technical Skills and Competencies Knowledge of health systems or platforms such as: PIMS DHIS2 OpenMRS or similar Ability to explain technical concepts in simple, accessible language Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Familiarity with digital learning tools or learning management systems Core Capabilities Strong facilitation and presentation skills Ability to engage diverse audiences with varying literacy levels High level of empathy and patience in adult learning environments Strong observational skills to identify adoption challenges Willingness to travel up to 70%, including remote locations Ethical Standards and Safeguarding International Medical Corps places strong emphasis on ethical conduct and accountability.
