Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC operates in more than 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities. Through innovative programming and evidence-based strategies, the IRC supports refugees and immigrants in rebuilding their lives, strengthening communities, and achieving long-term stability. Position Overview The Employment and RCA Specialist plays a dual role in supporting newly arrived refugees and qualified immigrants toward economic self-sufficiency. The position combines workforce development services with administration of the Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA) Program. The Specialist guides clients through employment preparation, job placement, and career progression services while ensuring compliance with eligibility requirements and benefit determinations under RCA guidelines. Core Responsibilities Employment Services Conduct employability assessments and deliver program orientations Develop individualized employment plans and household budget strategies Provide job readiness training and job search coaching Build and maintain partnerships with local employers and staffing agencies Support job placements and address post-placement challenges Monitor employment outcomes, wage progression, and performance metrics Maintain accurate client records and input data into internal systems Collaborate with community partners and service providers Travel within the service delivery area to support clients as needed Train or supervise interns, volunteers, and support staff when assigned Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA) Administration Conduct eligibility assessments for individuals and families Complete RCA enrollments for qualified participants Hold monthly eligibility review meetings with enrolled families Determine employability classification (mandatory or non-mandatory) Review and request monthly cash assistance and vendor payments in line with IRC and Colorado Refugee Services Program guidelines Distribute payments in accordance with IRC financial procedures Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date case files and service logs Coordinate with internal teams to reflect employment or status changes Serve as a key policy resource for complex eligibility scenarios Provide cross-functional support when required Reporting Structure Reports to: Early Employment Supervisor Supervisory Duties: May guide interns and volunteers Candidate Profile Education Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field preferred Professional Experience Minimum two years of workforce development experience strongly preferred Experience working with refugee or immigrant populations highly desirable Background in job placement and readiness training advantageous Required Competencies Strong relationship-building, networking, and diplomacy skills Ability to communicate effectively in multicultural environments Excellent time management and organizational abilities High attention to detail and documentation accuracy Fluency in English (spoken and written); additional languages beneficial Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle Working Environment Combination of office-based, remote, and field work Travel within the Denver service area required Occasional evening or weekend hours may be necessary Compensation and Benefits Hourly pay ranges from $24.00 to $25.00, determined by labor market conditions, internal equity, budget considerations, and candidate qualifications.
