The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking an experienced Software Developer/Analyst to join its global Monitoring, Evaluation, Technology, Accountability, and Learning (METAL) Unit. This full-time hybrid position offers technology professionals the opportunity to apply their software development expertise to some of the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges while contributing to data-driven decision-making across a global organization. Based in Nairobi (Kenya), London (United Kingdom), or New York (USA), the role combines software engineering, data platform development, analytics, and technology innovation within one of the world’s leading humanitarian organizations. Professionals with expertise in Microsoft Power Platform, PowerApps, Power Automate, Azure technologies, Databricks, and data systems development are encouraged to apply. About the International Rescue Committee Founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein, the International Rescue Committee responds to some of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises. The organization operates in more than 40 countries and 29 cities across the United States, delivering critical support in health, education, economic recovery, protection, governance, and emergency response. The IRC is committed to helping communities affected by conflict, displacement, disaster, and instability rebuild their lives while creating sustainable pathways toward long-term recovery and resilience. About the METAL Unit The Software Developer/Analyst will join the IRC’s METAL Unit, which supports the organization’s culture of evidence-based decision-making and technological innovation. METAL plays a central role in developing systems that improve program effectiveness through: Monitoring and evaluation systems Data collection and management platforms Business intelligence and analytics Technology innovation for humanitarian programs Organizational learning and accountability Data-driven decision-making frameworks The unit supports global program teams through four key pillars: Global MEAL Practice Technology for Programs Regional MEAL Support CRRD Data and Analytics Position Overview The Software Developer/Analyst will contribute to the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of data solutions that support humanitarian programming across IRC operations worldwide. Working within the CRRD Data & Analytics Team, the successful candidate will help build systems that collect, manage, analyze, and visualize key performance indicators used by senior decision-makers across the organization. The role reports directly to the Technology Development Lead and works closely with product managers, developers, quality assurance specialists, project managers, and IT teams. Core Responsibilities The selected professional will play a critical role in developing and supporting enterprise-level technology solutions. Key responsibilities include: Designing and developing PowerApps applications Building Power Automate workflows Supporting organization-wide data platforms Maintaining and enhancing existing software solutions Developing technical documentation and implementation guides Ensuring compliance with data quality and governance standards Providing Tier-2 and Tier-3 technical support Supporting systems integration initiatives Translating business requirements into technical development tasks Participating in pilot implementations and product rollouts Supporting data security and confidentiality requirements The role also requires active participation in establishing software development standards, quality assurance processes, and best practices across IRC technology projects. Required Technical Skills IRC is looking for a highly skilled technology professional with substantial experience developing enterprise data solutions. Applicants should possess: At least five years of experience developing and deploying technology solutions A minimum of three years of experience working with Microsoft PowerApps Strong expertise in Power Automate Experience with Databricks and Azure technologies Knowledge of Azure SQL and Dataverse Experience working with APIs and systems integrations Proficiency in source code management platforms such as GitHub or Azure DevOps Strong software testing and quality assurance practices Experience supporting large and complex data systems Candidates with Microsoft Power Platform certifications will have an additional advantage during the selection process. Educational Requirements Applicants should possess: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline Relevant professional certifications are desirable Demonstrated experience delivering enterprise-scale technology solutions Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and systems-thinking approaches are considered essential for success in the role. Compensation and Benefits The IRC offers competitive international compensation packages based on location. Published salary ranges include: United States: USD 85,000 – USD 95,000 annually United Kingdom: GBP 46,780 – GBP 55,552 annually Compensation is determined based on work location, professional experience, technical expertise, market conditions, and organizational equity considerations.
