Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will play a strategic leadership role across several core areas, including: Leading the implementation of the Crisis and Resilience portfolio workplan. Coordinating global research and policy initiatives. Managing programme implementation and monitoring progress. Producing policy guidance, analytical reports, and knowledge products. Supporting resource mobilization and donor engagement. Strengthening partnerships with governments, NGOs, UN agencies, academia, and the private sector. Promoting innovative approaches, including AI-assisted research and knowledge management tools. Supervising staff and supporting team capacity development. The role requires balancing strategic planning with operational delivery while ensuring programmes align with UNDP priorities and international development goals. Who Should Apply? UNDP is looking for professionals with a strong background in international development, policy research, programme management, and crisis response. Applicants should possess: A Master’s degree in International Relations, Public Policy, Economics, Data Science, or a related field with at least two years of relevant experience. OR A Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with a minimum of four years of progressively responsible professional experience. Candidates should also demonstrate experience in: Programme coordination and management. Research design and policy analysis. Multi-stakeholder engagement. Writing analytical reports and policy briefs. Working in fragile or conflict-affected contexts. Preferred Qualifications Candidates with the following expertise will have an advantage: Experience working in Afghanistan and/or the Horn of Africa. Knowledge of private sector development and market systems. Experience designing digital data collection systems. AI-assisted research or data analysis using Python, R, or similar tools. Knowledge of value chain analysis and resilience programming. Working knowledge of another United Nations language. Fluency in English, including excellent writing skills, is essential.
