Job Opportunity: LGA Field Assistant (2 Openings) at Malaria Consortium Malaria Consortium is currently inviting applications from qualified candidates for the position of LGA Field Assistant under the SARMAAN II Project in Adamawa and Gombe States, Nigeria. Job Summary & Details Position: LGA Field Assistant Number of Openings: 2 Project: SARMAAN II Organization: Malaria Consortium Locations: Adamawa State and Gombe State, Nigeria Application Deadline: 28 September 2026 About Malaria Consortium & The SARMAAN II Project Malaria Consortium is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to preventing, controlling, and treating malaria and other communicable diseases among vulnerable populations across Africa and Asia. The LGA Field Assistant positions fall under the SARMAAN II Project, which evaluates the Safety and Antimicrobial Resistance of Mass Administration of Azithromycin among Children 1–59 Months in Nigeria. Implemented across 10 states, SARMAAN II aims to assess the safety and overall impact of azithromycin mass drug administration (MDA) on child mortality and antimicrobial resistance. Purpose of the Role The LGA Field Assistant will support the planning, implementation, coordination, supervision, monitoring, reporting, reverse logistics, and personnel management of Mass Drug Administration (MDA) activities at the Local Government Area (LGA) level. The selected candidates will work closely with LGA management teams, health facility workers, community drug distributors (CDDs), traditional leaders, Officers in Charge (OICs) of health facilities, State Ministry of Health representatives, and key stakeholders. Key Responsibilities MDA Planning & Execution: Support the planning and implementation of Azithromycin MDA activities across assigned LGAs. Coordination & Supply Chain: Coordinate MDA activities at health facility, community, and household levels; support last-mile distribution of Azithromycin commodities from State Central Medical Stores to health facilities; ensure proper documentation and timely delivery. Training & Supervision: Support refresher training for Health Facility Workers (HFWs) and Community Drug Distributors (CDDs); conduct quality supportive supervision of field activities. Monitoring & Data Management: Identify and report challenges with digital HCM tools to the Command-and-Control Centre; assist the M&E Officer with data entry on administrative coverage and supply chain management; collect and submit activity reports. Stakeholder & SBC Engagement: Support Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) interventions within the assigned LGA; maintain effective communication with local stakeholders and community leaders. Logistics & Administration: Assist the Finance Officer with personnel account details for disbursement; support reverse logistics and assigned AZM-related tasks. Qualifications and Requirements Education: Relevant qualification in Science, Social Science, Public Health, or a related discipline. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of field experience in drug or commodity supply management, monitoring and evaluation, or logistics. Supervisory Skills: Experience conducting quality supportive supervision and utilizing data for programme improvement. Language Skills: Fluency in English and Hausa/Fulani (or other relevant local languages). Technical Skills: Familiarity with mobile data tools (KoboCollect, SurveyCTO) and Microsoft Office applications. Key Competencies: Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and reporting skills with the ability to manage multiple activities in field settings. Additional Advantage: Previous experience working with Malaria Consortium and/or past involvement in Azithromycin MDA programmes will be an added advantage. Safeguarding Requirement Selected candidates must complete the required Malaria Consortium Safeguarding Course on Kaya and present a valid safeguarding certificate at the point of engagement.
