The Tax Justice Network Africa (TJNA) is recruiting a Communications, Campaigns and Outreach Manager to lead its strategic communications, advocacy messaging, and public engagement efforts across the continent. This senior leadership role is remote, with the option to work from the Nairobi head office in Kenya. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced communications professional passionate about economic justice, progressive taxation, and African development policy to shape continental advocacy campaigns and strengthen TJNA’s visibility globally. Application Deadline: 6 March 2026 About Tax Justice Network Africa (TJNA) TJNA is a Pan-African organisation and a member of the Global Alliance for Tax Justice. The organisation works to promote socially just, accountable, and progressive taxation systems in Africa. Its advocacy focuses on: Pro-poor taxation systems Strengthening domestic resource mobilisation Challenging harmful tax policies that entrench inequality Promoting transparency and accountability in fiscal governance Through research, policy advocacy, campaigns, and strategic partnerships, TJNA seeks to reshape tax systems so they serve people—not privilege. About the Communications, Campaigns and Outreach Manager Role The Communications Manager is a senior management team (SMT) member responsible for driving TJNA’s overall messaging strategy. The role oversees the re-established Communications Department and leads a team of communications professionals. Purpose of the Role The Communications Manager sets the tone for all internal and external messaging, ensuring alignment with TJNA’s values and advocacy strategy. The role leverages creative digital platforms and innovative storytelling to reach diverse audiences across Africa and globally. Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Communications & Brand Management Lead the implementation of TJNA’s communication strategy Develop a multi-channel communication action plan Produce advocacy materials, blogs, fact sheets, policy briefs, and campaigns Oversee brand consistency across social media, publications, and media releases Monitor analytics and performance metrics to improve reach and impact Strategically manage TJNA’s public image 2. Campaign Leadership & Public Engagement Design and manage advocacy campaigns (content, timelines, logistics) Represent TJNA at media events and conferences Establish thought leadership in tax justice and economic policy Build relationships with journalists and media outlets across Africa 3. Leadership & Department Oversight Establish the department’s strategic direction Recruit and supervise a diverse communications team Manage departmental budgets and reporting Provide strategic input to the Executive Director and Board 4. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with partnerships, policy research, and capacity development teams Translate complex technical research into accessible messaging Coordinate internal and external stakeholder engagement strategies Required Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field Master’s degree (advantageous) At least 10 years of professional communications experience Minimum 5 years in a leadership role Experience managing remote and diverse teams Strong knowledge of communications technologies and digital strategy Proven success in strategic advocacy campaigns and crisis communications Experience in public relations and stakeholder engagement Understanding of Africa’s civil society and development landscape Bilingual proficiency in English and French is an added advantage.
