Fundraising & Partnerships Manager Job at Justice Desk Africa The nonprofit organisation Justice Desk Africa is seeking a highly experienced Fundraising and Partnerships Manager to lead its resource mobilisation and strategic collaboration efforts. Based in Cape Town, South Africa, this role is ideal for a results-driven professional with a strong background in grant writing, donor relations, and programme management. The position focuses on ensuring the financial sustainability of the organisation while building meaningful partnerships across the NGO, government, and private sectors. About the Role The Fundraising and Partnerships Manager will play a critical role in advancing Justice Desk Africa’s mission by securing funding and strengthening strategic relationships. The position combines fundraising leadership, partnership development, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) responsibilities. This is a senior-level role requiring both strategic thinking and hands-on execution. The successful candidate will oversee fundraising initiatives, manage donor compliance, and contribute to programme impact through data-driven evaluation systems. Key Responsibilities Fundraising and Grant Management A core focus of the role is leading all fundraising activities. This includes identifying funding opportunities, writing grant proposals, and submitting applications to international donors, corporate social investment (CSI), and corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes. The manager will also: Oversee overall fundraising strategy and execution Review funding contracts to ensure legal compliance Develop digital content to support online fundraising campaigns Explore new and innovative revenue streams Donor Compliance and Reporting The role requires strict adherence to donor requirements. The manager will ensure that all contractual obligations are met and that reporting is completed accurately and on time. This includes: Preparing reports for donors and senior management Tracking project deliverables against funding agreements Maintaining transparency and accountability in all funding-related activities Strategic Partnerships Building and maintaining partnerships is a key pillar of the role. The manager will identify new collaboration opportunities and ensure existing partnerships remain productive and aligned with organisational goals. Responsibilities include: Managing relationships with NGOs, government agencies, and private sector partners Attending conferences, meetings, and networking events Supporting leadership (CEO/Deputy CEO) in partnership engagement Ensuring partnerships are mutually beneficial and ethically aligned Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) The position has a strong emphasis on programme impact and accountability through monitoring and evaluation systems. Key duties include: Supporting the design and implementation of M&E frameworks Developing data collection tools and methodologies Leading improvements in evaluation design for greater impact measurement Establishing feedback systems to inform programme development Data Management and Reporting The manager will oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of programme data to demonstrate organisational impact. This includes: Analysing quantitative and qualitative data Producing visually engaging reports for internal and external stakeholders Submitting monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports Ensuring secure storage and proper documentation of all data Impact Evaluation The role also involves leading impact evaluation processes to assess programme effectiveness. Responsibilities include: Designing and validating evaluation tools Conducting surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions Analysing impact data aligned with programme goals Producing detailed impact reports for donors and stakeholders Administrative and Operational Support In addition to strategic responsibilities, the role includes general administrative tasks such as: Preparing reports, proposals, and presentations Writing monthly articles for publications and newsletters Maintaining organisational records and databases Supporting logistics and operational needs where required Networking and External Engagement The manager will actively represent the organisation in external forums, including: Donor roundtables and stakeholder meetings Partnership development sessions and collaborative initiatives Networking events to identify new funding and collaboration opportunities Required Skills and Competencies The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong combination of technical expertise and interpersonal skills. Core competencies include: Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organisational and time management abilities High attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills Emotional intelligence and the ability to foster trust Self-motivation and the ability to work independently The role also requires adaptability, professionalism, and a strong work ethic, including a willingness to work beyond standard hours when necessary. Minimum Requirements Applicants must meet the following criteria: A degree in a relevant field At least 5 years of experience in programme management, fundraising, and grant writing Proven success in securing funding through grants and partnerships Experience with donor management systems and project management tools Strong professional network within South Africa and internationally Business acumen and an entrepreneurial mindset Advanced Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel) A valid Code 8 driver’s license Willingness to travel nationally and internationally Knowledge of sustainability, environmental issues, and climate change initiatives is also required.
