KamiLimu has officially opened applications for Cohort 10 of its undergraduate mentorship and upskilling program for tech students enrolled at Kenyan universities. The 2026 application cycle is open and will close on 8 February 2026. KamiLimu is a premier mentorship program designed to support undergraduate students pursuing computing and tech-aligned degrees through structured mentorship, skills development, and community engagement. Application Timeline Application cycle opens: November 2025 Application deadline: 8 February 2026 Selection period: Approximately two months following the deadline Cohort intake: Up to 40 undergraduate students from Kenyan tertiary institutions Required Application Documents Applicants must prepare and submit the following documents through the official online application form: Latest university transcript One reference letter One personal essay responding to a question provided in the application form A fully completed and submitted application form Applications submitted via email or outside the official application portal will not be accepted. Mentee Eligibility Criteria Each year, KamiLimu admits a maximum of 40 undergraduate students into its flagship upskilling track. Eligible applicants must meet the following requirements: Level of Study Must be an undergraduate student enrolled at a Kenyan university or tertiary institution Course of Study KamiLimu welcomes students pursuing tech-aligned degrees with a core computing component. Past beneficiaries have included students enrolled in, but not limited to: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science Bachelor of Business Information Technology Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication and Information Engineering Bachelor of Science in Applied Computing Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science Students pursuing degrees such as Mechatronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or other programs that may not explicitly include “tech” in their title but make significant use of computing principles are also encouraged to apply. Academic Performance Applicants must demonstrate satisfactory academic standing as evidenced by their latest transcript Program Commitment Willingness to actively participate in both virtual and in-person sessions Commitment to completing program activities, workshops, and mentorship engagements Program Delivery Model The program is delivered through a hybrid model, combining: Online sessions In-person monthly sessions held in Nairobi This model supports participation by students from institutions outside Nairobi KamiLimu has previously supported students from more than ten institutions located outside Nairobi to attend in-person sessions Cost of the Program The KamiLimu undergraduate mentorship program is fully free of charge Mentees are not required to pay any program or participation fees Beneficiaries are, however, expected to: Arrange their own transport to in-person sessions Provide their own internet access and computing devices for virtual sessions Application and Selection Process The application and selection process consists of the following stages: Advertisement of the open application cycle Submission of required documents and essays through the online portal Stage 1: Eligibility check to confirm all requirements are met Stage 2: Intentional essay review aimed at providing constructive feedback Stage 3: Shortlisting of qualified candidates Stage 4: Virtual interviews and referee validation for shortlisted applicants KamiLimu is committed to supporting learning for all applicants, including those not selected. Applicant Support and Feedback To ensure a learning-oriented process, KamiLimu: Provides reasons to applicants who do not progress beyond the first round Offers essay feedback to applicants who reach the second and third stages Shares essay and interview review criteria with participating applicants Updates essay questions and evaluation criteria each selection cycle to ensure fairness Inclusivity and Values KamiLimu is a secular, inclusive, and values-driven community.
