globalsouthopportunities.com

Application Deadline

September 30, 2026

Description

Professionals with experience in communications, journalism, international relations, development studies, project management and stakeholder engagement have an opportunity to work with Landscape Alliance as a Consultant – GLF Speakers Engagement. The consultancy is linked to the Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) and is open to professionals able to work across Europe/Africa time zones. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to a major global platform focused on sustainable landscapes, restoration, climate, biodiversity and sustainable development. The consultancy will run for nine months, with applications closing on 30 September 2026. About the Landscape Alliance and Global Landscapes Forum Landscape Alliance transforms science into action by unlocking the potential of trees, forests and agroforestry landscapes to support planetary health and human well-being. It operates as the name of the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and the International Centre for Research on Agroforestry (ICRAF), which are independent international organizations and CGIAR Research Centers. The Global Landscapes Forum was launched in 2013 by CIFOR-ICRAF, with core partners including UNEP and the World Bank. According to the vacancy, GLF is the world’s largest knowledge-led platform on sustainable landscapes, engaging more than 30,000 organizations, 154 governments and millions of stakeholders across 185 countries. GLF connects local action with global decision-making across areas including restoration, climate, biodiversity and sustainable development. Its work also covers sustainable finance, learning, youth engagement and locally led development through GLFx, bringing together policymakers, investors, communities, scientists and private-sector stakeholders. About the Consultant – GLF Speakers Engagement Role The selected consultant will support the GLF Partnership & Engagement Coordinator in identifying and engaging potential speakers and strategic stakeholders. These may include strategic partners, donors, sponsors, governments, community leaders, activists, artists and other individuals who can contribute valuable perspectives to GLF events. The role is particularly important because speakers can significantly influence the narrative, tone and outcomes of conferences. The successful candidate will help identify relevant topics and suitable speakers while supporting diverse representation across gender, geographical regions and knowledge systems. The consultant will also look for opportunities to extend the reach and longevity of speakers’ knowledge through different media and communication channels. Another important element will be supporting the speaking skills of local and community actors connected to GLF, including GLFx Chapters, Youth and Restoration Stewards. Key Responsibilities The Consultant – GLF Speakers Engagement will take responsibility for the end-to-end speaker journey. This includes identifying potential speakers, extending invitations, providing briefings and managing follow-up, while working with the Partnership and Engagement Coordinator to secure diverse and impactful participation. Other responsibilities include identifying visionary leaders and emerging topics that align with GLF’s core themes. The role specifically emphasizes gender diversity, with a target of at least 50% women, as well as strong geographic representation, particularly from the Global South. The consultant will also coordinate communication between internal teams, manage the speakers’ database, support related website updates and curate engaging formats for both in-person and digital sessions. Additional duties include analyzing GLF’s history and themes, connecting organizations and new voices, identifying ways to link global priorities and audiences, and ensuring GLF activities remain relevant to current global conversations. The position will further involve creating content based on speakers’ knowledge, collaborating with the communications team, supporting capacity building across GLF’s community network and helping coordinate the Knowledge Committee. The consultant will also contribute to nurturing strategic relationships and identifying potential new partners. Who Can Apply? The opportunity is aimed at recent graduates and professionals with relevant academic and practical experience. Candidates should have a master’s or bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, international relations, development studies or a related discipline. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree can also qualify with at least two years of relevant work experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, together with an interest in storytelling and developing impactful narratives. Applicants should also demonstrate experience in project management, coordination, planning, implementation and evaluation. Knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is required. Experience using Canva is considered an advantage, while familiarity with video-editing software and other digital creation tools is also beneficial. Fluency in English is essential. Additional language skills, particularly French, Spanish, Indonesian or German, are an advantage. Contract Duration and Work Location This is a consultancy position lasting nine months. The preferred working location is within Europe/Africa time zones, making the opportunity potentially relevant to professionals based in Africa as well as Europe. Landscape Alliance states that it promotes gender diversity and encourages applications from women professionals. It is also an equal opportunity employer committed to a multicultural working environment that values gender equality, teamwork and respect for diversity. How to Apply Interested candidates should review the official vacancy information and submit their applications through the Landscape Alliance career site. The application deadline is 30 September 2026. The organization states that all applications will be acknowledged, but only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. This opportunity could be particularly valuable for professionals seeking international consultancy experience in global events, communications, stakeholder engagement, sustainable development, climate, biodiversity and landscape-related initiatives.
