The assignment focuses on strengthening the uptake and use of labour migration and social protection knowledge across the South Asia–Gulf corridor. MAGENTA combines behavioural science, research, strategy and communications to help United Nations agencies, governments, civil society organisations and other partners address complex social and development challenges. The successful consultant will play a central role in ensuring that this assignment delivers a coherent, practical and evidence-led package of outputs. Role Overview The Team Lead will provide strategic direction across the assignment’s five phases while serving as MAGENTA’s principal liaison with the International Labour Organization (ILO). The role requires an experienced professional capable of coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing stakeholders and ensuring that high-quality deliverables are completed within demanding timelines. The consultant will maintain overall oversight of project governance, work planning, quality assurance, communication and delivery. Strong judgement, organisation and client-management skills will be essential to keeping the assignment on track. Key Responsibilities The Team Lead will be responsible for: • Serving as MAGENTA’s principal account manager and maintaining a responsive, constructive relationship with ILO throughout the assignment. • Chairing the kick-off meeting and weekly project meetings, establishing governance and review arrangements, and ensuring that decisions and agreed actions are documented and followed through. • Coordinating the core project team and consultants, clarifying responsibilities and dependencies, and addressing resourcing, scheduling and delivery challenges before they affect key milestones. • Tracking progress, risks, approvals and client inputs across all five phases while promptly escalating potential blockers. • Managing agreed changes to scope, timelines or delivery arrangements and ensuring that project adjustments remain controlled and aligned with agreed objectives. • Managing submission and review cycles for all deliverables, ensuring consolidated client feedback is appropriately assigned, addressed and incorporated within agreed deadlines. • Leading MAGENTA’s quality-assurance process and confirming that each deliverable meets the required standards before submission to the client. • Supporting final validation and handover, ensuring that ILO receives all agreed final files and that outstanding actions are formally closed. Key Requirements Candidates should demonstrate the following qualifications and professional experience: • A postgraduate degree in communications, knowledge management, international development, behavioural science, social policy or a related discipline. Equivalent senior-level professional experience may also be considered. • At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in knowledge management, strategic communications, international development or related areas. • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary and multi-country assignments for international organisations. • Proven ability to develop high-quality strategies, analytical outputs and evidence-led deliverables. • Strong understanding of evidence synthesis, audience-centred communication, institutional knowledge uptake, implementation planning and monitoring. • Excellent client-management, facilitation, stakeholder-engagement and written communication skills. • Excellent written and spoken English. • Previous experience working within the Gulf region and/or the South Asia–Gulf migration corridor will be strongly advantageous. Working Conditions The consultancy will be delivered primarily remotely over a compressed 16-week working schedule, with approximately 15 days of consultancy input expected over the six-month engagement period. The successful consultant must be available in line with the agreed workplan, project milestones and review windows. The consultant will work closely with ILO, MAGENTA colleagues, corridor-based consultants and diverse institutional partners.
