Agricultural Officer – Climate Smart Agriculture The Agricultural Officer will lead implementation of climate-smart agriculture interventions aimed at increasing productivity and resilience. Key responsibilities include: Promoting improved crop production technologies and conservation agriculture Supporting farmer field schools and demonstration plots Training farmers and extension workers on agronomic practices Strengthening farmer groups and producer organisations Managing agricultural input distribution and e-voucher systems Promoting soil fertility management and drought-resistant crops Supporting nutrition-sensitive agriculture integration The role requires at least five years of experience in agricultural development, particularly in climate-smart agriculture and refugee or humanitarian contexts. Livestock Officer – Climate-Resilient Animal Production The Livestock Officer will oversee livestock-based livelihoods, including poultry, piggery, goats, and other smallholder systems. Core duties include: Designing livestock value chain interventions Training farmers on animal health and husbandry Supporting disease prevention and biosecurity measures Managing livestock input distribution and demonstration sites Promoting integration of livestock with crop and nutrition systems Coordinating with veterinary services and local authorities The position requires experience in livestock programming and climate-resilient agricultural systems. Agribusiness and Market Systems Officer This role focuses on strengthening market access and agricultural enterprise development. Responsibilities include: Conducting market assessments and value chain analysis Supporting business planning and financial literacy training Linking farmers to buyers, processors, and financial institutions Promoting aggregation, value addition, and post-harvest handling Supporting youth entrepreneurship and agribusiness development Tracking income and market performance outcomes Sustainable Land Management and Environmental Roles Sustainable Land Management Officer The SLM Officer will lead environmental restoration and land productivity initiatives. Key responsibilities include: Implementing soil and water conservation systems Supporting agroforestry and land restoration activities Mapping degraded land and promoting rehabilitation Training communities on climate adaptation practices Monitoring land restoration outcomes and hectares under management Entomologist – Beneficial Insect Value Chains This specialised role focuses on insect-based livelihoods and circular economy approaches. Responsibilities include: Developing apiculture and black soldier fly production systems Training communities on insect-based enterprises Supporting organic fertilizer and feed production Establishing demonstration units Linking insect enterprises to markets and value chains Nutrition and Human Development Roles Nutrition Expert / Officer The Nutrition Expert will integrate nutrition outcomes into agricultural and food security programming. Key responsibilities include: Promoting dietary diversity and nutrient-rich food production Supporting kitchen gardens and cooking demonstrations Delivering community nutrition education Working with caregivers and women’s groups Monitoring dietary diversity and nutrition outcomes Documenting behaviour change and success stories Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MERL) MERL & Digital Data Quality Officer This role strengthens digital data systems and programme accountability. Responsibilities include: Designing MERL frameworks and indicators Setting up digital data systems using Kobo Toolbox or ODK Training field staff on data collection and ethics Conducting data quality assurance and validation Developing dashboards and analytical reports Producing learning and evaluation outputs Finance and Accountability Role Accountant – Project Finance Officer The Accountant will manage financial systems for donor-funded projects. Key responsibilities include: Budget development and expenditure tracking Financial reporting and compliance with donor rules Audit preparation and internal controls Managing vendor payments and financial documentation Supporting project financial analysis and forecasting Project Leadership and Coordination Project Manager / Team Leader The Project Manager will oversee integrated agricultural programming across all sectors. Responsibilities include: Leading multi-sector project design and implementation Coordinating technical teams across agriculture, nutrition, and MERL Managing stakeholder engagement with government and partners Ensuring gender, youth, and environmental inclusion Leading reporting, learning, and adaptive management processes Strategic Focus on Refugee and Host Community Resilience All positions are anchored in refugee-hosting districts such as Nakivale and Kyangwali, where Action Against Hunger is implementing long-term resilience programmes.
