The Young Leaders Program (YLP) at McKinsey & Company is a two-year, full-time consulting opportunity designed to develop high-potential early-career talent into future business leaders. Based in Nairobi, the program offers participants hands-on experience solving complex business challenges while building foundational consulting and leadership skills. Role Overview The Fellow role places candidates within small, high-performing consulting teams, typically consisting of 3–5 members. Fellows actively contribute to all phases of client engagements, gaining exposure to real-world problem solving in dynamic environments. Core responsibilities include: Gathering and analysing qualitative and quantitative data Formulating and testing hypotheses to address client challenges Developing structured, evidence-based recommendations Communicating insights clearly to stakeholders Supporting implementation of solutions alongside client teams In some cases, Fellows may also present findings directly to client management, gaining early exposure to senior-level engagement. Program Structure: Young Leaders Program The Young Leaders Program is specifically designed to cultivate exceptional local talent into impactful leaders. Over the two-year period, Fellows: Work on diverse client projects across industries Collaborate with colleagues and clients to solve complex problems Build a strong foundation in consulting methodologies and tools Develop leadership, communication, and analytical capabilities High-performing participants may progress into a Business Analyst role at the end of the program, creating a pathway for long-term career growth within the firm.
