Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), also known as Doctors Without Borders, is an independent international medical humanitarian organisation that provides lifesaving assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, and exclusion from healthcare. MSF delivers care without discrimination, guided by principles of neutrality, independence, and impartiality. MSF Eastern Africa (MSF EA) is seeking a Head of Association to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for its Association and Board Office, based in Nairobi, Kenya. About MSF Eastern Africa MSF Eastern Africa serves as the regional institutional office of MSF, with responsibilities that include: Representation and external engagement Recruitment and support of regional staff Communications and fundraising Support to MSF-wide priorities such as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, data protection, training, mutualisation, medical operational support, and environmental health Position Objective The Head of Association is responsible for leading the Association and Board Office, ensuring effective governance, strategic coordination, and smooth operational functioning. The role serves as the primary liaison between the MSF EA Board and key stakeholders, including members, executive leadership, regional operations, and Associations of other MSF sections. The position is: Hierarchically accountable to the MSF EA Board Functionally accountable to the MSF EA Board President Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership Advise and support the Board in defining, organising, and implementing its mandate and strategic direction Identify, develop, and implement strategic and tactical priorities for the Association and Board Office Facilitate effective collaboration and performance within the team Governance and Operations Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of governance and associative policies and processes Act as a representative of the Board and President to internal and external stakeholders Ensure visibility and transparency of MSF EA governance structures and decisions Support the Association in fulfilling its role as the organisation’s accountability and higher governance body Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Association’s annual plan and budget Associative Support Strengthen and coordinate the Eastern Africa Association (EAA) focal persons network across countries and projects Support recruitment, induction, training, capacity building, and stimulation of associative life Ensure effective organisation of the General Assembly Coordinate with Operational Centre Associative Coordinators to support Field Associative Debates in Eastern African countries Membership Management Oversee membership recruitment, application processing, database management, communication, and reporting Supervise associative digital platforms, including websites and online engagement tools such as social media, messaging platforms, and e-voting systems Collaboration and Representation Maintain strong relationships with Associations of partner MSF sections Organise and participate in events to exchange views, practices, and experiences Represent the Association at MSF and public events when required Support the organisation of international MSF conferences and meetings People Management and Compliance Supervise, mentor, coach, and performance-manage staff within the Association and Board Office Integrate Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and safeguarding principles into all policies and practices Identify, document, and escalate safeguarding concerns in line with MSF procedures Ensure compliance with data protection laws, including the Data Protection Act (2019) Promote adherence to data protection policies and staff training requirements Qualifications and Experience Education Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Arts and Humanities, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field from a recognised institution Experience Minimum of five years of experience within MSF, including field, headquarters, or associative roles Strong understanding of the Eastern Africa context and global humanitarian affairs Familiarity with MSF financial procedures and policies is an advantage Fluency in English required; knowledge of Swahili, French, or Arabic is an asset Competencies Technical Skills Strong computer literacy, including MS Office applications Ability to navigate social media and interactive digital platforms Database management skills Excellent written communication, including reports, agendas, minutes, and speeches Behavioural Competencies Commitment to humanitarian principles Strong leadership, planning, and organisational skills Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse teams Flexibility, including willingness to travel and work beyond standard hours Excellent verbal and written communication skills What MSF Offers Three-year full-time employment contract based in Nairobi Annual salary of EUR 40,582 (HQ Grade 10), with annual increments Work-life balance allowance Comprehensive benefits package, including: 25 days annual leave Medical and disability insurance Pension contribution Flexible working arrangements and remote work options Relocation support for eligible non-Kenyan staff Learning, training, and mobility opportunities Annual home leave ticket for eligible staff and dependents Application Process Applicants must submit: A Letter of Motivation and Curriculum Vitae combined into one PDF document (in English) Application deadline: 1 January 2026 VISIT OFFICIAL WEBSITE TO APPLY For more opportunities such as these please follow us on Facebook, Instagram , WhatsApp, Twitter, LinkedIn and Telegram Disclaimer: Global South Opportunities GSO) is not the seeking organization.
