Description

The 10th Anniversary Global Challenge is an initiative by MIT Solve designed to identify, support, and scale high-impact solutions addressing urgent global problems over the next decade. The challenge builds on a decade-long track record of supporting innovators—known as Solvers—who develop scalable, practical solutions to some of the world’s most pressing issues. The programme focuses on innovations that can grow sustainably through markets, policy, procurement systems, or digital platforms. Core Purpose and Vision The challenge is based on the principle that transformative solutions already exist globally but require structured support to scale effectively. Over the past ten years, MIT Solve has: Launched over 100 innovation challenges Supported solutions that have reached over 370 million people Helped innovators raise more than $1.1 billion in funding The current edition aims to accelerate this impact by identifying 10 exceptional solutions capable of shaping the next decade of global development. Key Challenge Focus Areas Applicants are encouraged to propose solutions that address urgent global needs across multiple sectors. Purpose of the Solver Impact Fund The Solver Impact Fund is designed to support selected innovators beyond recognition, providing them with: Access to funding opportunities Strategic partnerships Mentorship and technical support Global visibility and networks This support helps ensure that promising solutions move beyond pilot stages into real-world implementation at scale. Selection Philosophy The challenge prioritises innovations that: Address systemic global challenges Demonstrate measurable impact potential Can operate across diverse geographic and socio-economic contexts Contribute to long-term structural change rather than short-term fixes The emphasis is on solutions that can remain effective and relevant over the next decade in rapidly changing global conditions. Organisational Context MIT Solve operates as part of the broader innovation ecosystem of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, supporting global problem-solving through open innovation challenges and partnerships. Its work connects innovators with governments, private sector actors, and philanthropic organisations to accelerate the deployment of scalable solutions worldwide. Conclusion The 10th Anniversary Global Challenge represents a significant opportunity for innovators working on scalable, high-impact solutions to global problems. By focusing on sustainability, inclusivity, and long-term systemic change, the initiative seeks to identify solutions capable of shaping the next decade of global development.
