Organization: Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health (MCWH)Location: Melbourne, Collingwood (Hybrid work possible)Employment Type: Part-time, 0.8 FTE (30.4 hours/week), Fixed-term 1-year contractSalary: SCHADS Level 6.1, with above-award leave entitlements, salary packaging up to $15,900, and Meals & Entertainment Program up to $2,650 About MCWH The Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health (MCWH) is a national, community-based organisation led by and for women and gender diverse people from migrant and refugee backgrounds. MCWH advocates, educates, and collaborates with communities, governments, and service providers to strengthen the health, wellbeing, safety, and leadership of migrant and refugee women and gender diverse people across Australia. MCWH operates from an intersectional feminist perspective and actively seeks to employ women and gender diverse people from migrant and refugee backgrounds. Position PurposeThe Communications Officer supports the implementation of MCWH’s communications strategies and action plans, producing high-quality content and managing social media, digital communications, and internal and external campaigns. This role contributes to the visibility, engagement, and impact of MCWH’s projects, advocacy campaigns, and organisational initiatives. Reporting and Relationships Internal: Reports to the Communications Manager and is part of the Communications Department within the Advocacy and Stakeholder Engagement Pillar. Collaborates with staff across programs and projects. External: Engages with government departments, funding bodies, research and service delivery organisations, media, community organisations, and migrant and refugee women and gender diverse people. Key Responsibilities Communications Strategy and Planning Support implementation of the Communications Strategy and advise staff on communications initiatives aligned with project objectives. Review and update internal communications processes to ensure efficiency and consistency. Content Creation and Management Develop, edit, and proofread high-quality content for digital and print platforms, ensuring alignment with MCWH’s tone and messaging. Design and produce visual assets using tools such as Canva to support programs, campaigns, and events. Manage social media across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube, including content scheduling, post creation, engagement monitoring, and analytics reporting. Coordinate newsletters (WRAP, AGENCY, internal updates) via Mailchimp, including sourcing contributions, drafting content, and scheduling distribution. Maintain and update the MCWH website with timely, accurate information on programs, news, and job advertisements. Event and Media Support Develop promotional materials, schedule event communications, manage ticketing (Humanitix), and coordinate photography and videography. Support media and advocacy activities, including drafting press releases, tracking media coverage, and maintaining media contacts. Contribute to reporting and evaluation by gathering analytics and preparing monthly and quarterly communications reports. Collaboration and General Duties Liaise with staff, translators, program teams, and external suppliers to ensure timely and effective communications. Represent MCWH externally, build and maintain stakeholder relationships, and contribute to organisational planning, meetings, and professional development. Support MCWH working groups and undertake other duties consistent with the role as requested by the Communications Manager. Selection Criteria Essential: Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in communications, media, design, or a related field. Minimum two years’ experience in a communications or social media role. Strong writing, editing, and content tailoring skills for diverse audiences and platforms. Proven experience managing social media, including content calendars, post creation, design, scheduling, engagement monitoring, and analytics. Proficiency with Canva, Mailchimp, Humanitix, SharePoint, and GA4. Strong project and campaign planning skills with the ability to meet deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, including working with translators and external suppliers. Commitment to migrant and refugee women’s issues from an intersectional feminist perspective. Highly Desirable: Experience in women’s health, health education, or gender equality sectors. Fluency in a language other than English or experience with multilingual content. Photography skills, WordPress experience, and familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud or Microsoft Teams. Special Requirements: Some evening, weekend, or interstate travel may be required. Flexibility to work from home or hybrid arrangements.
