The Nobel Women’s Initiative (NWI) has announced the opening of applications for its 2026 Sister-to-Sister Young Feminist Leadership Program, a global initiative designed to equip emerging feminist leaders with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to address contemporary challenges in peacebuilding, digital rights, and social justice. Applications for the highly competitive program are open until 26 June 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET, with selected participants joining a six-week virtual leadership experience focused on the theme “Peace in the Age of AI: Building Feminist Futures.” Program Focuses on Artificial Intelligence, Peace, and Feminist Leadership Now in its second decade, the Sister-to-Sister program remains a cornerstone of the Nobel Women’s Initiative’s efforts to support the next generation of feminist changemakers. The 2026 edition will explore the growing impact of artificial intelligence on conflict, democracy, human rights, and gender equality. Organizers note that AI technologies are increasingly shaping how power is exercised, from disinformation campaigns and deepfake technologies to online harassment and emerging autonomous weapons systems. The program will examine how these developments affect women, journalists, peacebuilders, human rights defenders, and feminist movements while also exploring opportunities to use technology to advance peace and justice. Twenty-Five Young Feminist Leaders to Be Selected A total of 25 young feminist activists from around the world will be chosen to participate in the intensive virtual program. The cohort will take part in weekly learning sessions from: 24 August 2026 28 September 2026 Participants will engage in collaborative discussions, skills development workshops, mentorship opportunities, and peer learning activities designed to strengthen feminist leadership and collective action. Key Learning Objectives The program aims to help participants better understand the intersection of technology, power, and peacebuilding. Core learning areas include: Understanding how artificial intelligence is reshaping conflict, security, and governance Examining gendered impacts of emerging technologies Analyzing AI-driven disinformation and digital manipulation Strengthening digital security and online safety practices Developing counter-disinformation strategies Exploring feminist approaches to AI governance Leveraging technology to support peacebuilding and social justice Building international solidarity and activist networks The initiative also seeks to foster long-term collaboration among participants working across different regions and social movements. Honorarium Available for Selected Participants To support full participation, NWI will provide an honorarium to participants who successfully complete the program. The financial support is intended to help cover: Internet access Workspace expenses Transportation costs Caregiving responsibilities Other participation-related barriers Participants must provide valid banking information to receive the honorarium at the conclusion of the program. Eligibility Requirements Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to feminist leadership and social change. Essential criteria include: Interest or experience in feminist peacebuilding Engagement in women’s rights, digital rights, or social justice movements Leadership potential within local communities Ability to participate effectively in English Commitment to attending at least 80% of live program sessions Age between 18 and 35 years The Nobel Women’s Initiative has also stated that trans and non-binary activists are encouraged to apply. Priority Regions and Backgrounds The selection process seeks to ensure broad global representation and diversity. Application Requirements Applicants must submit a complete application package before the deadline. Required materials include: Personal Statement or Video Candidates must submit: A one-page letter or A video of up to two minutes The submission should explain: Their contributions to feminist peacebuilding or social justice Challenges they face in their communities or professional work How the program will support their leadership development Additional Documents Applicants must also provide: An up-to-date résumé or curriculum vitae A reference letter from a feminist, peacebuilding, social justice, or digital rights organization or activist Selection Process Applications will be reviewed after the submission deadline of 26 June 2026.
