NCA works globally to save lives, build resilient communities, and challenge injustice. Through emergency response, long-term development, and advocacy, NCA provides life-saving assistance, including access to clean water, sanitation, and protection for communities affected by disasters, conflict, and climate-related crises. Working in close collaboration with partner organisations and the ACT Alliance, NCA reaches millions of people annually. The organisation is driven by a strong commitment to human dignity, justice, and sustainable development, ensuring that people affected by crisis are supported both immediately and in the long term. Position Overview The Regional Advisor for Strategic Partnerships plays a critical role in strengthening NCA’s institutional fundraising and donor engagement across a designated region. The role leads donor engagement efforts, supports strategic positioning, and provides hands-on guidance to country offices in developing high-quality, competitive funding proposals. Covering a cluster of countries, the Regional Advisor works closely with country offices and head office teams to identify funding opportunities, build strategic donor relationships, and contribute to a strong, diversified funding pipeline. The role requires a strategic, collaborative professional with proven experience in donor engagement within complex humanitarian and development contexts. Areas of Responsibility 1. Donor Engagement and Strategic Positioning (30%) Support country offices to regularly update and strengthen Funding and Engagement Plans (FEPs) Develop and implement regional donor engagement strategies aligned with country and organisational priorities Build and maintain strong relationships with: Institutional donors Embassies and UN agencies Funding platforms and strategic partners Relevant private sector actors Coordinate with Country Directors and SPD to: Organise donor meetings and strategic dialogues Share tailored NCA materials, including reports, briefings, and country fact sheets Represent NCA in high-level donor coordination forums, networks, and partnership platforms to enhance visibility and influence 2. Strategic Opportunity Design and Donor-Tailored Programme Development (20%) Conduct donor mapping and market analysis to identify emerging funding opportunities Share donor intelligence, strategies, and policy updates with relevant internal stakeholders Translate programmatic concepts into compelling, donor-aligned funding opportunities Ensure funding applications: Respond to donor priorities Demonstrate innovation and added value Contribute to financial sustainability Act as a catalyst for funding growth by equipping country teams with insights on donor trends and positioning 3. Proposal Development and Coordination (50%) Support country offices in: Planning and coordinating proposal development processes Writing and submitting high-quality funding proposals Lead or coordinate multi-country and regional proposal processes when required Provide training and coaching to country office staff on: Donor requirements and compliance Consortium development and management Proposal writing best practices Review and edit proposals to ensure alignment with donor expectations and NCA quality standards Support lessons learned processes to strengthen proposal quality and institutional learning Contribute to the development of shared tools, templates, and best practices for resource mobilisation Critical Interfaces Head Office Strategic Partnerships Division Country and Technical Advisers Finance and Grant Control teams Country Offices Country Directors Programme Managers Funding process leads and thematic coordinators Qualifications and Experience Minimum of seven years’ experience in humanitarian or development sectors At least five years’ demonstrated experience in institutional fundraising Proven success in donor engagement and proposal development Strong knowledge of institutional donors, including: UN agencies EU FCDO Sida SDC GIZ Experience working in complex, multi-country contexts Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills Strong writing and editing skills in English Knowledge of faith-based networks and policy advocacy is an asset Experience engaging with private sector donors or foundations is an advantage Core Competencies Strategic thinking and initiative Strong networking and relationship-building capacity Effective facilitation and process leadership Ability to work independently and collaboratively Cultural sensitivity and adaptability Commitment to diversifying funding streams and partnerships Key Application Information This is a national staff position and not classified as an expatriate role Citizens of East African Community (EAC) member countries are encouraged to apply Salary range: KES 6,621,940 – 7,325,962 per annum, aligned with NCA national staff policy Applications must be submitted online in English Applicants must complete all required fields and attach a current CV Incomplete or email applications will not be considered Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted Applicants are expected to review and commit to NCA’s Code of Conduct, Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH), and Child Safeguarding policies as part of the recruitment process.
