NVIDIA Research is inviting PhD students to apply for the 2027 Research Internship with its AI-Mediated Reality and Interaction (AMRI) research group. The AMRI group develops Interactive Embodied AI systems capable of operating safely, collaboratively and socially in dynamic real-world environments. Research conducted by the team influences NVIDIA technologies including Isaac, Omniverse, NuRec, DLSS, AI4Media and Metropolis, while also driving future product innovation. About the Internship The NVIDIA AMRI Research Internship is designed for highly creative and independent doctoral researchers with a strong publication record and expertise in artificial intelligence and computer vision. Interns will work alongside interdisciplinary researchers on fundamental scientific problems spanning AI, robotics, neural rendering, world models and human behavior understanding. The internship emphasizes both academic excellence and real-world impact, with opportunities to publish research and contribute to technologies that transition from research into NVIDIA products. Research Areas Successful interns may contribute to research in areas including: Interactive Embodied AI Human-AI Interaction 4D World Modeling Computer Vision Robotics World Models Neural Rendering Human Behavior Understanding Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning The role is particularly suited to PhD researchers interested in advancing state-of-the-art methods that bridge perception, interaction and intelligent autonomous systems. Internship Responsibilities Research interns will be expected to lead ambitious research projects while collaborating closely with NVIDIA scientists and engineers. Key responsibilities include: Proposing novel research ideas that advance the scientific state of the art and align with NVIDIA’s long-term research priorities. Designing, prototyping and evaluating new AI algorithms and models. Publishing and patenting research in leading international conferences and journals. Participating in technology transfer as research innovations are integrated into NVIDIA products. Collaborating with multidisciplinary research teams across NVIDIA Research. The internship encourages independent thinking while providing access to world-class computational resources and mentorship. Eligibility Requirements Applicants should be currently pursuing a PhD in a relevant quantitative or technical discipline, including: Computer Science Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering Physics Mathematics Candidates should also demonstrate an outstanding academic research record, particularly through publications at premier AI, computer vision and graphics conferences. Required Skills Competitive applicants should possess the following technical qualifications: Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of artificial intelligence and computer vision. Experience with distributed deep learning frameworks, particularly PyTorch. Excellent programming skills in Python and C++. Familiarity with CUDA for GPU computing. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of computer graphics is considered an additional advantage but is not mandatory. Preferred Publication Background NVIDIA is particularly interested in candidates with publications in top-tier venues such as: CVPR ICCV ECCV NeurIPS ICLR ICML SIGGRAPH A demonstrated history of high-impact research will strengthen an application significantly.
