Through research, consulting, capacity strengthening, publications, and international communities of practice, OTT works with policy organisations and development partners to improve the production and communication of evidence. The Digital Communications Officer will play a central operational role by ensuring that OTT’s digital platforms function efficiently while delivering a seamless experience for members, readers, partners, and the wider policy community. About the Role The position is a fixed-term, part-time contract representing approximately 50% of full-time hours, with an average workload of four hours per day across 253 working days per year. The successful candidate will work closely with the Communications Manager and Content Manager, taking responsibility for publishing content, maintaining digital platforms, managing online communities, improving user journeys, and monitoring digital performance. While the Communications Manager leads strategy and editorial direction, the Digital Communications Officer ensures that content reaches the right audiences through effective operational execution. Working hours are flexible but require regular overlap with Central European Time (CET/CEST) during either mornings or afternoons. Key Responsibilities The Digital Communications Officer will oversee several important areas of OTT’s digital ecosystem. Social Media & Community Management The role includes managing organisational accounts across LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Instagram, and other platforms. Responsibilities include scheduling content, publishing posts, moderating online communities, responding to comments and messages, maintaining platform profiles, and supporting audience engagement across membership forums and community spaces. Website Administration The successful candidate will maintain OTT’s website by uploading articles, creating and updating pages, managing navigation, conducting regular content audits, identifying broken links, and ensuring that information remains accurate and accessible. The role also involves coordinating with external web developers whenever technical issues arise. User Experience & Digital Journey A significant responsibility is improving how users interact with OTT’s digital platforms. This includes auditing the journey across the website, newsletters, social media, and Patreon, identifying friction points, improving navigation, and ensuring that audience pathways from discovery to engagement remain effective and intuitive. Email Marketing & Membership Platforms The officer will manage Mailchimp by maintaining subscriber databases, segmenting mailing lists, resolving delivery issues, processing new subscribers, and supporting institutional newsletters. The role also includes administering OTT’s Patreon platform by publishing member content, managing membership tiers, and supporting community engagement. Analytics, SEO & Digital Growth The position requires monitoring website traffic, email performance, social media engagement, and conversion metrics using digital analytics tools. The officer will also support SEO implementation, contribute to paid advertising campaigns, and provide regular performance reports that inform communication strategy. Required Qualifications Applicants should possess at least three years of professional experience in digital communications, community management, or a similar role. Essential qualifications include: Experience managing organisational social media platforms. Website administration experience using WordPress or another content management system. Mailchimp or equivalent email marketing experience. Knowledge of Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, or similar analytics tools. Practical understanding of SEO principles. Excellent organisational and time-management skills. Strong written and spoken English. Ability to work independently within a fully remote international team. Experience with Patreon, paid digital advertising, web accessibility, nonprofit communications, think tanks, or international development is considered advantageous. French or Spanish language skills are also desirable.
