Role Overview One Acre Fund seeks an experienced and strategic Learning and Development (L&D) professional to serve as Manager Development Lead, a fixed-term role responsible for strengthening managerial capacity across its multi-country operations. With over five years of relevant experience, the successful candidate will play a central role in shaping the organisation’s leadership pipeline as it works toward its ambitious goal of reaching 10 million farmers by 2030. This position is based in either Kenya or Rwanda and targets mid-level professionals with a strong passion for leadership growth, organisational effectiveness, and scalable programme delivery. About the Role The Manager Development Lead will design, implement, and evaluate learning programmes that support the development of approximately 400 mid-level managers across Africa. Reporting to the Global Learning and Development Lead, the role will collaborate with associates, specialists, and coordinators to ensure effective training delivery and long-term leadership pipeline development. The position directly contributes to improved management practices and organisational performance across multiple departments and country programmes. Key Responsibilities The role involves strategic design, implementation, and continuous improvement of manager development initiatives. Core responsibilities include: Leading the development and delivery of comprehensive manager training programmes, including onboarding, workshops, bootcamps, and targeted coaching sessions. Designing a data-informed training strategy using tools such as manager surveys, performance reviews, and participant feedback to evaluate learning gaps and measure improvements. Developing a phased roadmap for manager development that aligns short-term training needs with long-term organisational goals and leadership succession plans. Innovating and scaling blended learning approaches, including the integration of digital tools, new technologies, and global best practices in leadership development. Collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure training programmes are aligned with organisational priorities. Building strong relationships with staff at all levels to ensure learning content remains relevant to operational challenges and supports measurable performance outcomes. Qualifications To be successful in this position, candidates should demonstrate: A minimum of five years’ experience in leadership development, talent management, organisational development, or a related field. Evidence of successfully designing and delivering manager training programmes at scale. Experience applying data—including performance metrics and survey results—to enhance programme effectiveness. Strong project and programme management capabilities, with the ability to oversee complex initiatives and ensure timely delivery. Experience managing stakeholders across diverse locations and cultural contexts.
