Peace and Humanity is inviting applications for the position of Indo-Pacific Programme Director, offering experienced professionals an opportunity to provide strategic leadership for the organisation’s growing Indo-Pacific portfolio. Leading Strategic Growth Across the Indo-Pacific The Indo-Pacific Programme Director will oversee the strategic direction, implementation, and expansion of the organisation’s initiatives throughout the Indo-Pacific region. Reporting directly to the Executive Director and the Management Board, the successful candidate will be responsible for strengthening the programme’s regional impact while building on its existing portfolio of projects and partnerships. The position involves supervising Project Coordinators and research teams responsible for producing regional analyses, publications, policy outputs, and events that advance Peace and Humanity’s mission of promoting peace, security, and human rights. Although the role is currently unpaid, it offers valuable senior leadership experience for professionals seeking to strengthen their expertise in programme management, strategic planning, and international non-profit leadership. Key Responsibilities The Programme Director will lead the development and implementation of initiatives designed to expand Peace and Humanity’s engagement across the Indo-Pacific. Core responsibilities include: Providing strategic leadership for all programme activities and projects. Expanding partnerships and strengthening regional networks across Indo-Pacific countries. Identifying opportunities for programme growth and increased regional impact. Developing concept notes, project proposals, and supporting fundraising initiatives. Supervising and mentoring Project Coordinators and research teams. Representing the organisation at conferences, seminars, workshops, panel discussions, and other events. Coordinating closely with the Executive Director, Management Board, and other programme teams. Ensuring timely delivery of research publications, reports, and programme outputs. Supporting the promotion of organisational initiatives and publications. Assisting with the recruitment and onboarding of new team members. The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping the future direction of the Indo-Pacific Programme while strengthening the organisation’s regional presence. Required Qualifications Peace and Humanity is seeking candidates with strong academic credentials, leadership experience, and a demonstrated commitment to peacebuilding and human rights. Applicants should possess: A Master’s degree in International Law, International Relations, International Security, Peace and Conflict Studies, or a closely related discipline. Strong knowledge of political, legal, and security developments across the Indo-Pacific region. Demonstrated leadership experience delivering projects or managing teams in either formal or informal settings. Excellent written and spoken English communication skills. The ability to communicate complex issues in a clear and accessible manner. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills for working in multicultural remote teams. A proactive approach to partnership development and programme innovation. Physical presence within the Indo-Pacific region. An established professional network within the region and willingness to expand it on behalf of the organisation. Candidates should also demonstrate a clear commitment to the organisation’s mission of promoting peace, human rights, and international cooperation. Desirable Experience The organisation encourages applications from professionals who can bring additional experience in programme development and organisational leadership. Preferred qualifications include: Experience working with non-governmental organisations. Programme or project management experience. Experience organising online or in-person events. Remote Leadership Opportunity The position is fully remote, allowing candidates to work from within the Indo-Pacific region while collaborating with an international team. The flexible commitment of approximately 10 hours per week makes the role suitable for experienced professionals seeking to contribute alongside existing academic, professional, or consulting responsibilities.
