About the Role The Regional Business Development Director will serve as a key catalyst for expanding non-traditional fundraising pathways across Country Offices (COs). The position leads efforts to identify, pursue, and secure innovative financing opportunities beyond traditional Official Development Assistance (ODA). This includes emerging private capital mechanisms, blended finance, climate finance, corporate social responsibility (CSR) partnerships, and philanthropic funding streams. This role strengthens Plan International’s market positioning by: Driving strategic financing initiatives aligned with CO priorities Broker partnerships that enhance programme ambitions Expanding investment opportunities across multiple countries Supporting localised and sustainable programming models Enhancing competitiveness in rapidly evolving funding landscapes Operating through a country-driven and sub-regional lens, the Director ensures alignment between regional strategies and global ambitions, ultimately positioning COs as credible and impactful partners of choice. Key Responsibilities The Regional Business Development Director will: Lead identification and mobilisation of innovative, non-traditional financing opportunities Strengthen internal capacity for new funding models, including private sector partnerships and climate financing Guide COs in developing high-quality, multi-country investment proposals Broker strategic relationships with donors, investors, corporations, foundations, and other stakeholders Enhance visibility and influence across donor ecosystems in Africa and the Middle East Support COs in designing market-informed, scalable, and sustainable programming Ensure alignment with Plan International’s global strategy and locally led development principles About You The ideal candidate demonstrates strong expertise across fundraising, partnership brokerage, and strategic external engagement, particularly with emerging financing mechanisms. Requirements include: Proven success in resource mobilisation, with a focus on non-traditional donors such as foundations, corporate partners, and blended finance entities Master’s degree or equivalent experience in International Development, Public Policy, Business, or related disciplines Advanced influencing and representational skills, with capability to engage senior stakeholders Demonstrated experience in partnership brokering and complex proposal development Strong understanding of donor landscapes across Africa and the Middle East Ability to work effectively across multiple countries and within matrixed organisational structures Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills for strategic positioning and influencing Strong coordination, organisational, and interpersonal abilities Results-driven mindset, with capacity to challenge assumptions and drive innovation Organisational Commitments Plan International is committed to: Equality, diversity, and inclusion across all offices A workplace culture that values diverse perspectives, lived experiences, and ideas Racial justice, gender equality, and advancing the rights of girls Child safeguarding and the protection of all children they serve All successful applicants will undergo safeguarding checks in line with Plan International’s policies and the Inter-Agency Misconduct Disclosure Scheme.
