Role Overview The Gender-based Violence (GBV) and Gender in Emergencies Technical Lead is a senior-level global role designed to shape technical excellence and innovation in humanitarian programming. This position provides strategic leadership on GBV prevention, response, and gender-transformative approaches in emergency contexts. The role strengthens global standards, supports Country Offices, influences humanitarian actors, and enhances the quality of services delivered to child survivors of violence. The position offers a unique opportunity to influence global humanitarian systems while ensuring that gender equality and child protection remain central in crisis response efforts. Key Responsibilities 1. Global Technical Leadership Lead global technical direction on GBV and gender in emergencies Develop high-quality guidance, standards, tools, and learning resources Strengthen gender-transformative approaches across humanitarian programming Support Country Offices in conducting Rapid Gender Analysis 2. Capacity Strengthening and Community of Practice Build capacity of humanitarian teams across the federation Lead and facilitate a global Community of Practice Design and deliver training and learning materials Promote continuous improvement in GBV programming quality 3. Strategic Partnerships and Representation Cultivate partnerships with humanitarian actors and donors Represent Plan International at global humanitarian fora Influence sector-wide standards and policy discussions Drive resource mobilisation for GBV and gender programming 4. Research, Evidence and Innovation Lead research initiatives to strengthen evidence-based GBV programming Promote innovation in emergency response approaches Generate and disseminate learning across the federation Enhance programmatic impact through data-driven improvements Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will demonstrate substantial experience and recognized expertise in GBV and gender equality within humanitarian contexts. Essential Experience Significant leadership in GBV programming for children in emergencies Strong knowledge of gender analysis, GBV mitigation, and gender-transformative frameworks Experience developing global guidance and training tools Familiarity with humanitarian coordination systems Proven donor engagement and partnership-building capacity Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills Language and Mobility Fluency in English required French preferred; Spanish or Arabic considered assets Ability to travel frequently, including to high-risk environments Employment Terms Flexible location within countries where Plan International operates and can employ staff Salary and benefits aligned with employing office’s national framework Not an international or expatriate contract Subject to safeguarding and misconduct disclosure checks Safeguarding and Inclusion Commitment Plan International places safeguarding and child protection at the core of its operations.
