The Platform for Peace and Humanity (PPH) is inviting applications for the position of Volunteer Project Coordinator (Peace Education) under its Mediterranean Programme. About the Role The Project Coordinator (Peace Education) will contribute to the design, development, and implementation of projects focused on sustainable peace education within the Mediterranean region. The role combines research, stakeholder engagement, project management, partnership development, and resource mobilization. Working closely with the Mediterranean Programme Director and other members of the organization, the successful candidate will help strengthen initiatives that integrate peacebuilding principles into education systems and youth-focused interventions. Position Details Organization: Platform for Peace and Humanity (PPH) Position: Project Coordinator (Peace Education) Programme: Mediterranean Programme Location: Remote/Home-Based Start Date: As soon as possible Duration: Minimum 12 months, including a one-month probationary period Time Commitment: 5–10 hours per week with flexible working hours Application Deadline: 6 September 2026 Key Responsibilities Research and Analysis The Project Coordinator will support evidence-based peace education initiatives through comprehensive research and policy analysis. Responsibilities include: • Conducting research, data collection, and analysis on peace education initiatives, policies, and frameworks across the Mediterranean region. • Monitoring developments related to education, peacebuilding, social justice, and human rights. • Contributing to policy papers, reports, articles, and other publications developed by the Mediterranean Programme. • Supporting knowledge production and dissemination efforts that promote sustainable peace education. Outreach and Stakeholder Engagement The position requires active engagement with a wide range of stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and expand programme impact. Responsibilities include: • Establishing and maintaining relationships with civil society organizations, universities, research institutions, international organizations, donors, and subject matter experts. • Identifying funding opportunities that align with programme objectives. • Supporting partnership-building initiatives and collaborative projects. • Assisting in resource mobilization efforts to secure support for programme activities. Project Design and Management The successful candidate will contribute to the planning and implementation of strategic projects within the Mediterranean Programme. Responsibilities include: • Designing innovative projects and activities that advance peace education goals. • Supporting project implementation in line with donor requirements and organizational strategies. • Assisting with project planning, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation. • Contributing to project documentation, budget planning, and operational coordination. Eligibility Requirements Applicants should possess strong academic credentials and professional experience in peacebuilding, education, or related fields. Minimum qualifications include: • A university degree in Peace Studies, Education, Political Science, Human Rights, International Relations, or a closely related discipline. • Five to seven years of professional experience in peace education, peacebuilding, project coordination, or related areas. • Strong understanding of the Mediterranean region, including its socio-political dynamics, educational challenges, and human rights issues. • Demonstrated experience in conducting research and producing policy-oriented content. • Proven project management skills, including budget development and implementation support. • Experience engaging stakeholders and supporting partnership development. • Resource mobilization and fundraising experience. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Fluency in English. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams. • Experience using Google Workspace tools. • Ability to work effectively in multicultural and international environments. • Strong commitment to the mission and values of the Platform for Peace and Humanity. Preferred Qualifications While not mandatory, the following qualifications will strengthen an application: • Fluency in French and/or Arabic. • Existing professional networks within the Mediterranean region. • Experience working with international NGOs, development agencies, or educational institutions. • Knowledge of peace education methodologies and conflict-sensitive programming approaches.
