Pollicy Data Institute Limited is seeking a qualified Website Developer to design, develop, and deploy a fully functional, secure, and scalable organisational website. The role is project-based and aligned with Pollicy’s development timeline, estimated at between two (2) and four (4) months. The Website Developer will report directly to the Pollicy Project Lead and will be responsible for delivering a modern digital platform that reflects Pollicy’s identity, values, and strategic objectives. The primary deliverable is a fully operational Pollicy website that enhances visibility, improves stakeholder engagement, and supports knowledge dissemination across Africa and beyond. Background Pollicy Data Institute Limited is a Pan-African feminist organisation working at the intersection of data, technology, and design to advance inclusive, equitable, and ethical digital ecosystems. The organisation engages in research, advocacy, and creative data practices that challenge digital inequalities and promote feminist approaches to technology. As part of its strategic growth and communication priorities, Pollicy seeks to develop a robust, dynamic, and future-proof website. This platform will serve as the organisation’s central digital presence, showcasing its programmes, research outputs, publications, and partnerships while strengthening engagement with stakeholders, funders, collaborators, and communities. The website will also function as a repository for organisational knowledge and a key communication tool for amplifying Pollicy’s impact globally. Purpose of the Assignment The Website Developer will be responsible for creating a user-centred, accessible, and high-performance website that aligns with Pollicy’s mission and values. The platform must: Clearly communicate Pollicy’s mission, vision, and thematic areas of work Showcase programmes, research outputs, insights, and impact stories Strengthen engagement with partners, donors, and community stakeholders Serve as a central repository for organisational publications and resources Reflect feminist, inclusive, and Pan-African design principles Support future scalability for campaigns, tools, and digital initiatives Scope of Work A. Website Design and Development The Website Developer will: Design a modern, responsive, and mobile-first website aligned with Pollicy branding guidelines Develop UX/UI wireframes and interactive prototypes for review and approval Build a scalable website architecture with key pages including: Home About Pollicy Programmes / Work Areas Research & Insights Publications / Resources News / Blog Careers / Opportunities Partners & Collaborations Contact B. Functionality Development The developer will ensure the website includes: Dynamic content management for publications, blogs, and project pages Searchable and filterable resource and publication libraries Newsletter subscription and mailing list integration Multimedia embedding (videos, audio, images, reports, and galleries) Cross-browser and cross-device compatibility Flexible architecture for future integrations such as events, campaigns, and forms Optional integration readiness for donation or fundraising tools C. Content Management System (CMS) The developer will: Implement a user-friendly CMS (such as WordPress, Webflow, or equivalent) Enable internal teams to easily create, edit, and manage content Develop structured templates and content frameworks Provide CMS training and documentation for Pollicy staff Ensure ease of long-term maintenance and scalability D. Performance, Security, and Compliance The Website Developer will ensure: Implementation of web security best practices, including SSL encryption and secure authentication Compliance with applicable data protection and privacy standards Optimisation for speed, responsiveness, and SEO performance Rigorous testing including user acceptance testing (UAT), bug fixing, and deployment validation Stability and reliability across platforms and devices E. Analytics and Reporting The developer will: Integrate analytics tools such as Google Analytics or equivalent platforms Develop dashboards for monitoring traffic, engagement, and user behaviour Provide a basic reporting framework for internal use and decision-making F. Maintenance and Support The assignment includes post-launch responsibilities such as: Providing technical support for an agreed post-launch period Resolving bugs and ensuring continuous website stability and uptime Offering troubleshooting and optimisation support as required Supporting knowledge transfer to internal teams Deliverables The Website Developer is expected to deliver the following: UX/UI wireframes and website design mockups Fully developed and deployed website CMS setup with documentation CMS training materials and knowledge transfer sessions Analytics integration and reporting dashboard Testing, quality assurance, and deployment report Post-launch support and maintenance plan Qualifications and Experience The ideal candidate will demonstrate: Proven experience in website development (front-end, back-end, or full-stack) Strong UX/UI design capabilities Experience developing organisational, research, or campaign-based websites Proficiency in CMS platforms such as WordPress, Webflow, or similar frameworks Strong understanding of SEO, web performance optimisation, and security protocols A demonstrated portfolio of live and functional websites Residency within the East Africa region Application Process Interested applicants are required to submit: Updated CV Portfolio of previous work Financial proposal Applications should be sent to info@pollicy.org with the subject line:Website Developer Application – Pollicy The application deadline is 24 May 2026.
