Consultancy Opportunities Available Practical Action is recruiting consultants for two separate consultancy assignments. Applicants may choose to bid for either assignment individually or both opportunities, depending on their expertise and experience. Opportunity 1: GCF Fiduciary Readiness Consultant The first consultancy focuses on strengthening Practical Action’s fiduciary readiness in preparation for Green Climate Fund accreditation. The selected consultant will work closely with Practical Action staff to: Review existing fiduciary systems and processes. Verify internal assessment findings. Assess compliance with GCF fiduciary standards. Recommend improvements to financial governance systems. Strengthen organizational policies supporting accreditation. Support institutional readiness for future GCF funding. Essential Qualifications Applicants should demonstrate: A proven track record supporting organizations through GCF accreditation. Experience developing fiduciary policies for international non-governmental organizations (INGOs). Strong understanding of GCF fiduciary standards and accreditation documentation. Knowledge of GCF Gender Policy requirements. Excellent written English and the ability to prepare practical documentation for non-specialist staff. Applicants are expected to provide examples of organizations they have successfully supported through the GCF accreditation process, including the accreditation categories achieved. Opportunity 2: Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) Consultant The second consultancy focuses on developing and strengthening Practical Action’s Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS). The successful consultant or consulting firm will support Practical Action in designing systems that meet Green Climate Fund environmental and social safeguards while building internal organizational capacity. Responsibilities include: Reviewing current environmental and social management systems. Verifying internal readiness assessments. Developing recommendations for policy improvements. Designing ESMS tools and templates. Supporting staff capacity building. Strengthening organizational readiness for GCF accreditation. Required Expertise Consultants should possess: Demonstrated experience supporting GCF accreditation. Extensive knowledge of GCF Environmental and Social Management System requirements. Familiarity with the GCF Environmental and Social Policy. Knowledge of the Revised Accreditation Framework. Expertise in IFC Performance Standards (PS1–PS8). Experience preparing Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs). Experience designing stakeholder engagement plans and grievance mechanisms. Knowledge of GCF Gender Policy requirements. Experience integrating gender considerations into environmental and social management frameworks. Familiarity with Indigenous Peoples’ rights frameworks, including IFC Performance Standard 7 and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). Experience developing Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) procedures.
