Coordinator, Global Humanitarian Survivor Network – Protect Humanitarians Protect Humanitarians is seeking a dedicated Coordinator to lead the Global Humanitarian Survivor Network, a survivor-led initiative designed to transform how the humanitarian sector supports and safeguards its personnel. This role offers the opportunity to empower survivors of violence and families of humanitarian workers who lost their lives in service, ensuring their voices shape systemic change across the sector. The organization promotes best practices in Duty of Care, offers mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), provides legal guidance, and amplifies the voices of survivors. Purpose of the RoleThe Coordinator will oversee the establishment and growth of the Global Humanitarian Survivor Network, creating safe spaces for participation, collective leadership, and advocacy grounded in lived experience. The role involves internal collaboration with Protect Humanitarians’ Executive Director, MHPSS Coordinator, Legal Officer, and Research Coordinator, as well as external engagement with survivors, families, and partner organizations. The initiative is supported by the European Commission (DG ECHO) under the Protect Aid Workers consortium, which includes ACF, GISF, LAW, and Protect Humanitarians. Key Responsibilities A. Foundational Setup & Governance Onboard and orient core network members, including survivors and family members. Organize the first in-person convening, ensuring accessibility and trauma-informed facilitation. Establish virtual and in-person meeting structures, agendas, documentation, and secure platforms. Co-create governance frameworks, operational SOPs, decision records, risk assessments, and communication protocols. B. Safeguarding, Psychosocial Wellbeing & Safety Act as safeguarding focal point, ensuring informed consent, confidentiality, data protection, and SEAH prevention. Provide access to psychosocial support and peer networks. Facilitate trauma-informed group processes and maintain confidential reporting channels. C. Survivor Engagement, Reintegration & Capacity Building Facilitate safe participation across diverse survivor groups. Develop capacity-building programs covering peer leadership, advocacy, psychosocial resilience, workplace reintegration, family reintegration, and legal literacy. Oversee micro-grants or mentorship schemes to support survivor-led advocacy projects. Support the development of a residence program for humanitarian workers. D. Thematic Coordination & Program Delivery Coordinate thematic working groups, including family support, workplace reintegration, advocacy, accountability, and justice. Guide workplans, deliverables, and document outcomes for internal and external dissemination. E. Research & Knowledge Development Integrate survivor perspectives into research design and implementation. Support creation of a Knowledge Hub with survivor-authored publications and analysis. Ensure research follows ethical standards and trauma-informed practices. Coordinate survivor contributions to publications, advocacy briefs, and policy tools. F. Institutional Linkages & Partnerships Liaise with DG ECHO Protect Aid Workers grant mechanism and PH Community of Practice on Staff Care and MHPSS. Establish partnerships with NGOs, networks, legal aid groups, psychosocial service providers, and research institutions. Support referrals and ensure survivor inclusion in program initiatives. G. Monitoring, Learning & Adaptation Develop M&E tools tracking participation, thematic progress, and survivor wellbeing. Conduct feedback sessions, prepare reports, and use findings to improve facilitation, safeguarding, and program design. Essential Requirements Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in humanitarian affairs, psychology, social sciences, human rights, or related fields. Minimum five years’ experience in humanitarian protection, safeguarding, survivor support, or MHPSS coordination. Demonstrated experience facilitating survivor-led or victim-centered networks. Certification in psychotherapy and expertise in trauma-informed programming. Knowledge of safeguarding/SEAH response systems and multi-stakeholder coordination. Excellent facilitation, communication, and conflict-resolution skills. Fluency in English; additional languages advantageous. Integrity, empathy, discretion, and commitment to survivor leadership.
