Description

The QAD Peace Research Association has launched the Peace Research Support Fund 2026, a funding initiative designed to support innovative and impactful research on peace and conflict. This programme aims to strengthen peace-oriented knowledge production while promoting dialogue, justice, equality, and democratic values across societies. The fund recognises peace as a multidimensional process involving social, political, economic, cultural, and ecological transformation. It prioritises interdisciplinary research that bridges academic inquiry with real-world policy and societal impact. Purpose and Objectives The fund is structured to advance peace research through: Supporting high-quality academic and independent research Increasing the visibility and societal relevance of peace-focused studies Strengthening dialogue between academia, policy, and civil society Encouraging innovative and critical approaches to peacebuilding Particular emphasis is placed on research addressing both historical and contemporary challenges to peaceful and democratic solutions, especially in relation to the Kurdish issue. Thematic Areas The QAD Peace Research Association supports projects across five key areas: Social Peace Pathways for resolving violent conflict Dialogue-based and equality-driven solutions Fieldwork-driven policy recommendations Conflict & Resolution Analysis of violence, exclusion, and systemic inequality Mechanisms for reconciliation, justice, and accountability Comparative conflict studies across regions Economic & Ecological Justice Links between conflict, inequality, and environmental degradation Role of peace processes in economic and environmental justice Climate-related and resource-based conflicts Global & Regional Geopolitics Impact of nationalism, authoritarianism, and populism Regional and global political transformations Interactions between global dynamics and local peace processes History & Culture Cultural and artistic dimensions of peace Memory, identity, and historical narratives Peace representation in literature, arts, and media Eligibility The fund is open to a diverse range of applicants, including: Academics and independent researchers Master’s and PhD students Postdoctoral researchers Civil society and policy experts Key conditions: One application per applicant (team submissions allowed) Projects must be ongoing or in development Completed or previously published work is not eligible Applications may be submitted in English or Turkish Funding Categories Five projects will be selected in 2026 under two categories: Micro-Scale Research Funding: €1,500 Final report: minimum 15 pages Medium & Large-Scale Research Funding: €2,500 Final report: minimum 25 pages Application Requirements Applications (3,000–4,000 words) must include: Curriculum Vitae Academic background, expertise, experience, publications Research Proposal Topic and research questions Methodology and work plan Contribution to literature Objectives and alignment with QAD’s mission Timeline and required resources Risk assessment and mitigation References Two expert referees with contact details Ethics Statement Confirmation of originality and adherence to academic standards Technical guidelines: Submit as a single PDF Include applicant name on each page Number all pages Send via email to: info@qad.institute Incomplete or non-compliant applications will not be considered. Evaluation Criteria Applications are reviewed by a scholarly jury appointed by the QAD Peace Research Association. Key criteria include: Academic rigor and methodological strength Originality and analytical depth Relevance to peace research objectives Interdisciplinary and innovative approach Feasibility within the proposed timeline Potential societal and policy impact External peer reviewers may be consulted where necessary. Responsibilities of Selected Researchers Successful applicants will: Submit final reports and policy papers Participate in QAD networking and dissemination activities Provide interim progress updates Acknowledge QAD funding in publications Outputs will be translated and published in multiple languages, increasing accessibility and impact.
