Refugees Seeking Equal Access at the Table (R-SEAT) is inviting applications for the role of Communications Lead, a senior position focused on strengthening global advocacy for meaningful refugee participation. This is an opportunity to lead strategic communications for a fast-growing, refugee-led organization working at the heart of global refugee governance. The deadline to apply is 16 January 2026. Only candidates based in Mexico, Colombia, Lebanon, Syria, Kenya, or Uganda will be considered. Why This Role Matters The global refugee system is under unprecedented pressure. As displacement grows and resources remain constrained, the need for inclusive, transformative, and refugee-led solutions has never been greater. R-SEAT works to ensure that refugees are not just consulted, but meaningfully involved in shaping the policies and systems that affect their lives. Strategic communications play a critical role in this mission. Over recent years, R-SEAT has successfully used communications to elevate refugee leaders and refugee-led organizations (RLOs). The Communications Lead will build on this momentum—expanding reach, shaping narratives, and mobilizing global audiences around refugee leadership. About R-SEAT R-SEAT is an international refugee-led organization (RLO) dedicated to improving the effectiveness of global refugee responses by institutionalizing meaningful refugee participation. Its work focuses on designing and supporting transparent, structured, and sustainable refugee advisory mechanisms at national and global levels. R-SEAT’s approach is anchored in three core pillars: EngageWorking with governments and strategic partners to establish refugee advisory mechanisms that embed refugee participation into decision-making processes. AmplifyShifting global narratives to recognize refugee leaders and RLOs as essential partners in shaping refugee responses. ConnectBuilding reciprocal networks between refugees, RLOs, governments, philanthropy, and INGOs to enable collaboration, learning, and resource mobilization. The Role: Communications Lead The Communications Lead will oversee and drive all communications work across the organization, playing a central role in advancing R-SEAT’s mission and visibility. Key responsibilities include: Creating strategic communications materialsDesigning compelling, accessible, and visually engaging content for diverse global audiences. Supporting the refugee leadership ecosystemIdentifying opportunities to elevate advocates with lived experience of forced displacement and amplify their voices. Strengthening narrative change effortsShowcasing refugee leadership, achievements, and insights to shift perceptions at local, regional, and global levels. Driving advocacy and mobilizationUsing social media and other channels to share calls to action, key messages, and campaign updates. Growing R-SEAT’s reach and influenceExpanding and energizing the organization’s communications presence to deepen engagement and community impact. This role is ideal for someone who combines creativity with strategic thinking and is motivated by social justice and systems change. Who R-SEAT Is Looking For R-SEAT is seeking a bold, self-driven communications professional who thrives in a remote, fast-paced, international environment. Essential requirements: Based in Mexico, Colombia, Lebanon, Syria, Kenya, or Uganda Strong passion for refugee issues and community-building Excellent written and spoken English High level of creativity with a strong eye for design Proficiency with digital tools, including design platforms and mailing systems Willingness and ability to travel regionally (and preferably internationally) Strong leadership skills, initiative, and ownership over outcomes Comfort working flexibly in a remote setting Strong candidates will also have: Lived experience of forced displacement (as defined by R-SEAT) Experience or knowledge of regional or global forced displacement processes Familiarity with global refugee governance frameworks, such as the Global Compact on Refugees and the Global Refugee Forum Background in advocacy, organizing, or movement-building Candidates with lived experience of forced displacement are strongly encouraged to apply.
