With hubs in London and Bogota, GCI develops innovative frameworks for global cooperation, including Global Public Investment, Circular Cooperation, narrative-shaping around global public goods and initiatives elevating Global South leadership in multilateral reform and green industrial policy. The organisation blends research, advocacy and thought leadership to influence global debates and policymaking. In this context, a strong communications and digital presence is considered as critical as rigorous ideas and research outputs. The Role GCI is recruiting an exceptional Communications and Digital Lead to work closely with the Executive Director and the wider senior team. The role aims to transform the organisation’s communications function into a powerful engine for visibility, influence and global engagement. The successful candidate will translate complex research into compelling multimedia content, develop a recognisable organisational voice and position GCI as a leading global authority on cooperation narratives. The role demands strategic vision, creative talent and hands-on content production skills across video, audio and written media. Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate exceptional impact from previous communications work and show how their leadership, creativity and analytical skills have enabled strong visibility, engagement and narrative resonance. GCI is seeking a professional who: Confidently produces and edits video and audio, writes crisp copy and excels at crafting hooks and thumbnails. Is skilled in interviewing, producing or directing experts and thought leaders. Is knowledgeable or deeply curious about global cooperation, climate and public-interest policy. Works quickly and to extremely high standards, with meticulous attention to detail and strong project management skills. Brings bold ideas, strategic insight and leadership qualities that elevate the organisation’s influence. Core Responsibilities The Communications and Digital Lead will oversee three major areas of work: strategic direction, multi-media presence and development of a flagship podcast. 1. Developing a Communications Strategy GCI sees communication and narrative shaping as central to achieving policy change. The strategy must be ambitious, multi-platform and innovative, while attentive to the realities of limited resources. Ensuring major ideas, publications and policy interventions cut through to diverse global audiences. Supporting timely communications around key global moments with rapid content packages. Strengthening alliances through strategic co-produced content and shared storytelling approaches. 2. Building a High-Impact Multi-Media Presence The organisation requires a practitioner capable of turning strategy into action. The role will involve end-to-end content development, coordination and experimentation. Key responsibilities include: Producing high-profile multimedia stories and, when necessary, campaigns in collaboration with partners. Securing GCI participation on influential third-party platforms through expert interviews, guest commentary and cross-promotion. Designing clear, visually engaging carousels and graphics using tools such as Canva or Adobe. Creating short-form videos derived from long-form material and crafting platform-specific copy with strong hooks and calls to action. Running experiments to optimise engagement (for example, A/B testing hooks, visuals and post timings). Tracking performance, analysing engagement metrics and translating data into actionable insights. Managing updates and improvements to the organisation’s website to ensure clarity, impact and audience-friendly navigation. 3. Overseeing a Sector-Leading Podcast GCI plans to launch a new podcast positioned as a go-to space for practitioners, policymakers and wider audiences interested in global cooperation. Responsibilities include: Shaping episode angles, writing hooks, developing show notes and preparing guests. Working closely with an external production agency to ensure high-quality delivery. Planning distribution strategies across YouTube, podcast platforms and social channels. Creating a consistent and efficient workflow for generating clips for Shorts, Reels and LinkedIn. Evaluating progress regularly and adjusting format, promotion or content to maximise reach and relevance. What GCI Offers The role provides a unique opportunity to shape the global narrative around cooperation, influencing debates at a critical point in history. Key benefits include: The chance to lead the communications vision for a mission-driven organisation with global stakes. Close collaboration with the Executive Director and a small, international and intellectually ambitious team. Flexible working hours. A budget for training, tools and travel.
