Role Overview The Press & Communication Assistant works within the Cabinet of the President of the Renew Europe Group, currently led by Valérie Hayer. Reporting to the Head of Cabinet, the role supports the Principal Communication Adviser and contributes to the day-to-day communications activities of the President’s Cabinet. This position is ideal for an early-career communications professional with strong political awareness, excellent writing skills, and a keen interest in European affairs and media engagement. Role Purpose The Press & Communication Assistant is responsible for supporting the visibility, coherence, and effectiveness of the President’s communications by: Assisting with media relations and press monitoring Supporting the management of social media platforms Contributing to written communications and speech preparation Supporting internal coordination within the Cabinet Key Responsibilities Media Monitoring and Press Relations The role supports external communications through: Monitoring daily media coverage, primarily French media, while also tracking broader European outlets Preparing press reviews and summaries for internal use Assisting with press relations involving journalists from print, radio, television, and digital media Supporting responses to media inquiries under the guidance of senior communications staff Social Media and Digital Communication The Press & Communication Assistant contributes to the President’s digital presence by: Assisting in the management of the President’s social media accounts Drafting and scheduling social media content aligned with political priorities Supporting content planning to ensure consistency across platforms Helping analyse engagement and visibility trends Content Creation and Visual Support The role includes hands-on support for communications materials by: Creating social media posts and short-form written content Taking photographs during events, meetings, and official engagements Supporting basic visual content needs for digital communications Ensuring messaging is accurate, timely, and aligned with Renew Europe’s values Speechwriting and Political Communication Support The Press & Communication Assistant supports high-level political messaging through: Assisting with the preparation, editing, and formatting of speeches Supporting the drafting of talking points, statements, and briefings Ensuring consistency between written materials and public messaging Contributing to internal coordination around key political moments Cabinet and Administrative Support The role contributes to the smooth functioning of the Cabinet by: Supporting daily coordination within the President’s Cabinet Managing competing priorities in a fast-paced political environment Assisting with scheduling and communication-related logistics Adapting quickly to evolving political and media contexts Required Profile and Skills Essential Qualifications and Attributes The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate: Strong interest in European politics and EU institutions Excellent command of French (written and spoken) Very good working knowledge of English Strong writing, editing, and communication skills High level of rigour, discretion, and attention to detail Proactivity and ability to take initiative Capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to work under pressure, including irregular or extended working hours when required Professional Competencies Key competencies include: Understanding of political communication and media environments Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication tools Strong organisational and time-management skills Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, multicultural setting Flexibility and responsiveness to political developments Eligibility and Contract Conditions In line with Article 12(2) of the Conditions of Employment of Other Servants (CEOS), applicants must: Be a national of a Member State of the European Union Enjoy full rights as a citizen Have fulfilled all obligations imposed by national laws Application Process Candidates who identify with this role and wish to contribute to Renew Europe’s mission are invited to apply by submitting: A CV A motivational letter in French or English Applications should clearly reference:“Application for Press & Communication Assistant” Application Deadline: Tuesday, 23 December 2025 (midnight) Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
