The Rockefeller Foundation is seeking a highly skilled Deputy Chief of Staff to join the President’s Office in Washington, DC. This senior leadership role plays a critical part in driving the strategic and operational priorities of the President’s Office, ensuring that organizational objectives are effectively implemented and reflected in all engagements and initiatives. The Deputy Chief of Staff will collaborate closely with the President and Chief of Staff to oversee enterprise-level initiatives, manage cross-functional projects, and cultivate a high-performing, inclusive team culture. The role requires strategic foresight, operational excellence, and strong stakeholder engagement, both internally and externally. Salary Range: $218,000 – $230,000 annuallyWork Schedule: Hybrid, in-office Monday through Thursday Key Responsibilities Drive the strategic and operational direction of the President’s Office, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals and Board-approved objectives. Lead cross-functional initiatives and coordinate efforts across teams to advance President-level priorities. Act as a strategic thought partner to the President and Chief of Staff, translating high-level objectives into actionable plans. Oversee daily operations of the President’s Office, managing time allocation, engagements, and briefing materials. Ensure the President is fully prepared for meetings and engagements with timely, high-quality materials. Represent the President’s Office externally with senior partners, funders, and stakeholders, cultivating strong relationships. Support Board-level activities, including strategic meeting preparation, execution, and follow-up. Champion innovative solutions and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness. Lead enterprise-level special projects in collaboration with the President and Chief of Staff. Mentor senior staff and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth. Model inclusivity, integrity, and organizational stewardship, reinforcing the Foundation’s long-term mission. Experience and Qualifications The ideal candidate will have: A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in senior leadership roles. A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred. Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives in high-impact environments. A well-established professional network, particularly within the U.S., with experience representing executive offices externally at the highest levels. Proven ability to support senior executives and Board-level engagement with full accountability for outcomes. Advanced strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, and judgment in complex and ambiguous situations. Exceptional organizational, communication, and relationship management capabilities. High emotional intelligence and discretion, with the ability to operate independently. Commitment to driving innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
