Role Overview Samaritan’s Purse is seeking an Instructional Design Specialist to join the Learning Support Team in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. This on-site role supports the International Projects Department and contributes directly to the organisation’s global humanitarian and ministry work. The Instructional Design Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and evaluating high-quality learning solutions that support staff and field teams worldwide. The role applies adult learning principles to create engaging, effective training programmes delivered through classroom, blended, and digital formats. The position also plays a key role in strengthening organisational learning systems, technologies, and reporting mechanisms. Key Responsibilities The Instructional Design Specialist is expected to contribute both technically and collaboratively across learning initiatives. Core responsibilities include: Maintaining a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and serving as an effective Christian witness through professional conduct and service Applying adult learning theories and instructional design best practices to develop classroom-based training, eLearning modules, blended learning solutions, job aids, and informal learning resources Creating instructional content using eLearning development tools, including the Articulate 360 suite and Adobe Creative Suite Advising subject matter experts on effective instructional design and delivery for both in-person and web-based learning, including synchronous and asynchronous formats Managing the Projects Department’s online learning portal and continuously evaluating learning technologies to improve effectiveness and accessibility Evaluating training initiatives through appropriate metrics and preparing reports that summarise outcomes, impact, and recommendations Developing and overseeing reporting systems to track training activities, events, facilitators, and participant data Co-leading research efforts to identify and adapt world-class training methodologies, tools, and practices from other organisations and government agencies Supporting training initiatives for international field staff, as required Serving as the Learning Support Team liaison for PeopleSoft development, deployment, and implementation related to learning systems Undertaking additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organisational objectives Required Qualifications and Experience The successful candidate will bring a combination of technical expertise, organisational skills, and commitment to the organisation’s faith-based mission. Required qualifications include: A Bachelor’s degree in Learning, Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or a related field A minimum of three years of professional experience in instructional design within a corporate, nonprofit, or civil service environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Completion of at least 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies, or a willingness to complete this requirement upon hire Experience with Oracle Guided Learning, considered an advantage Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Candidates are expected to demonstrate the following competencies: Strong knowledge of instructional technologies and course authoring tools, including Articulate 360 and Adobe Creative Suite In-depth understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design best practices Excellent written communication, presentation, and graphic design skills Proven ability to develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and deliverables Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify and apply appropriate evaluation metrics for learning initiatives Ability to work collaboratively across teams while managing multiple priorities effectively Work Environment and Benefits This is a full-time, on-site role based in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina.
