Save the Children is seeking qualified and committed professionals to join its Gaza Field Office as Educational Activities ECCD Facilitators. These positions support the delivery of early childhood education and learning services for children aged 3 to 6 years. The role is contingent on funding availability, and multiple openings are expected to be filled through this vacancy. Role Purpose The Educational Activities ECCD Facilitator plays a central role in implementing structured and high-quality learning activities for young children affected by crisis. Working directly in shelters and other temporary learning spaces within the Gaza area, the facilitator ensures that children have access to safe, inclusive and stimulating early learning and socio-emotional support services provided through Save the Children’s education programmes. The facilitator is responsible for planning, delivering and documenting educational interventions, while ensuring compliance with Save the Children’s policies, procedures and safeguarding standards. Scope of Role Location: Gaza Field Office – Deir al Balah (subject to change based on programme priorities)Contract Type: Casual Worker, 6-month durationReports to: Education Programme OfficersDirect Reports: None Key Areas of Accountability General Responsibilities Facilitators conduct comprehensive assessments of shelters using standardised tools that capture available spaces, numbers of children, age groups, gender distribution, disabilities, and material requirements. Based on this assessment, facilitators work with shelter management to select eligible beneficiary children. They administer pre- and post-intervention assessment tools to evaluate children’s literacy, numeracy and developmental progress, as well as the engagement levels of caregivers. Lesson planning is a critical function of the role, requiring facilitators to adapt materials and teaching strategies based on children’s varied learning needs, using active learning methodologies. Facilitators also create and implement recreational and age-appropriate extracurricular activities, ensuring that all sessions promote children’s participation, safety and psychosocial well-being. They design individualised education plans for children requiring specialised support. Documentation and Monitoring A key component of the role includes meticulous documentation of all activities, including attendance records, progress reports, data collection and parent consent forms. Facilitators prepare weekly updates on outputs and monthly reports on children’s progress, while escalating challenges, safeguarding concerns or protection issues to the appropriate focal points. Coordination with shelter representatives ensures secure storage and appropriate usage of learning materials. Parental and Community Engagement The role requires proactive engagement with caregivers to strengthen the learning environment at home. Facilitators regularly communicate children’s progress, provide guidance on supportive home-based learning practices and organise interactive activities that promote positive caregiver-child interactions. Professional Development and Collaboration Facilitators participate in all relevant training sessions provided by Save the Children and collaborate closely with project teams during workshops, meetings and capacity-building activities. The role also focuses on building children’s confidence, improving their expressive abilities and enhancing their overall learning experience in emergency contexts. Qualifications and Requirements Candidates must hold a university degree in education, with specialisations in Arabic, English, Mathematics or early childhood education.
