ShEquity has announced the launch of its Technical Assistance (TA) Facility Program in Ghana, marking the introduction of the organisation’s first Gender-Smart Climate Technical Assistance Facility. This new initiative is designed to de-risk gender-smart, green small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and support their access to global carbon markets. The TA Facility is delivered in partnership with the Agency for Business & Economic Development (AWE) and Greentec Capital Africa Foundation, bringing together deep expertise in gender finance, enterprise development, and climate-smart investment. The program reflects ShEquity’s commitment to advancing inclusive climate solutions while unlocking commercial opportunities for women-led and gender-smart businesses. Program Overview The ShEquity TA Facility provides targeted, hands-on support to climate-focused SMEs operating in Ghana. The program is structured to strengthen business performance, improve investment readiness, and enable participating enterprises to understand and engage effectively with carbon markets. Through a combination of technical support and capacity building, the Facility aims to: Reduce operational and investment risks for climate-focused SMEs Strengthen the ability of businesses to generate and monetise high-quality carbon credits Improve access to future climate finance and private investment Support scalable solutions that contribute to emissions reduction, ecosystem restoration, and climate resilience Support Offered Through the TA Facility Selected SMEs will benefit from a comprehensive package of support tailored to their stage of growth and climate impact ambitions. This includes: Hands-on coaching to improve operational efficiency and business systems Expert mentorship from climate, finance, and gender-lens specialists Catalytic funding to support readiness for carbon market participation Practical tools to help enterprises: Understand carbon market requirements Navigate certification and verification processes Strengthen governance and reporting structures Guidance on positioning businesses for future investment and long-term growth The Facility is designed to be highly practical, ensuring that participating SMEs gain actionable insights and implement measurable improvements during the program period. Eligibility Criteria Applications are open to SMEs operating in Ghana that meet the program’s eligibility requirements. To qualify, applicants must: Be gender-smart, climate-focused SMEs operating in sectors such as: Renewable energy Clean cooking Clean mobility Circular economy and waste valorisation Sustainable agriculture and agro-processing Nature-based solutions Be legally registered and authorised to operate in Ghana as a for-profit company Have been in operation for a minimum of three years Demonstrate positive social and environmental impact Demonstrate a positive carbon emissions impact Have an innovative business model, product, or service Generate annual revenues between USD 50,000 and USD 500,000 Employ at least five staff, with priority given to enterprises with gender-diverse teams Additional priority will be given to: Women-owned or women-led businesses Enterprises aligned with the 2X Challenge criteria Participation Requirements To ensure meaningful engagement and outcomes, selected SMEs are expected to: Commit to active participation for the full 20-week program duration Engage consistently in coaching, mentorship, and technical sessions Provide relevant business and impact data required for program activities Collaborate openly with program partners and experts The program is designed to support enterprises that are ready to invest time and leadership capacity in strengthening their climate and gender impact. Application Process Eligible SMEs are encouraged to apply through the ShEquity application platform.
