Salary: £25,000 – £30,000Hours: 35 hours per weekLocation: UK remote, occasional travel required Sightsavers is seeking a Governance Operations Officer to provide comprehensive administrative and operational support across governance, compliance, and assurance frameworks. This permanent, full-time role offers the opportunity to work remotely in the UK with occasional travel to the Haywards Heath office. Flexible and part-time working arrangements will also be considered. Role Overview The Governance Operations Officer will work closely with the Controller of Governance and Assurance to support the effective operation of governance systems. The officer will ensure Sightsavers’ boards and sub-committees are efficiently managed, providing administrative and strategic support to enable them to fulfil their responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Board Administration Prepare agendas, papers, and minutes, ensuring timely circulation Organise teleconferences, book venues, and notify participants Coordinate logistics with partner organisations for physical and hybrid meetings Attend meetings to take accurate minutes and ensure follow-up actions are recorded Planning and Coordination Schedule meetings in compliance with constitutional requirements Support the Safeguarding team with record-keeping and meetings Insurance Management Coordinate renewal and procurement of Group insurance policies, including life, medical, travel, liability, and premises coverage Maintain records of insurance policies and manage related claims Governance, Compliance, and Risk Management Support internal and external governance reviews and ensure adherence to legislation and best practices Provide advice on charity governance and compliance matters Assist Information Security, Legal, and Compliance teams on relevant projects Collaborate with HR and Safeguarding teams to strengthen safe recruitment practices Audit Support Assist the Internal Audit Manager and General Counsel in organising audits Collect and present key documentation required for internal audits This role is varied and highly involved, requiring flexibility and the ability to take initiative in a dynamic environment. Required Skills and Experience Essential: Experience managing, arranging, and facilitating meetings Event management skills, including booking venues and coordinating logistics for physical and hybrid events Strong minute-taking ability Desirable: General administrative experience Exposure to governance, compliance, or administration through work, volunteering, or academic projects Interest in international development and disability rights Experience working in not-for-profit organisations The successful candidate will be proactive, highly organised, and have excellent communication skills, with a keen interest in governance, compliance, and organisational effectiveness.
