The Sightsavers is seeking consultants to conduct IT skills demand and value chain analyses in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, and Zambia. This consultancy supports a 5-year program aimed at improving employment access for young people with disabilities through digital, IT, and entrepreneurship skills development. Key Information Locations: Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria (Abuja, Kaduna, Lagos/Yaba), Zambia Contract Type: Consultancy (full-time) Start Date: 23 March 2026 Application Deadline: 1 March 2026 Fee: Negotiable Target Beneficiaries: 12,200 young people with disabilities across the four countries Objectives The consultancy focuses on analyzing the digital/IT sector in each country to: Map IT subsectors, their jobs, and the skills in demand for mid and entry-level roles. Identify barriers and enablers for young people with disabilities entering and remaining in the workforce. Validate skills areas and propose alternatives where necessary. Produce country-specific reports and presentations. Key Responsibilities Conduct primary and secondary research, including desk-based analysis and interviews. Map the IT sector value chains, identifying companies, sub-sector functions, and job types (waged, entrepreneurial, gig). Interview HR professionals, tech leads, recruiters, instructors, and educators to understand: Skills required (technical and behavioral) Certification needs Accessibility challenges for disabled students Course delivery modalities and effectiveness Analyze and synthesize data into actionable insights for skills demand and sectoral trends. Produce a final country report and presentation for stakeholders. Required Skills and Experience Essential: Master’s degree or higher in Economics, Development Studies, or related fields Professional expertise in value chain analysis, labor market diagnostics, or skills anticipation frameworks Experience conducting sectoral studies, value chain analyses, or skills assessments (preferably in ICT/digital sectors) Familiarity with AI and emerging technologies in relation to employment Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, including surveys, key informant interviews, and vacancy analytics Knowledge of local labor market dynamics, youth employment challenges, and disability inclusion Excellent project management and delivery under tight timelines Desirable: In-depth knowledge of country-specific digital ecosystems and tech recruitment drivers Expertise in the digital economy and labor market trends Application Process Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) via the Sightsavers portal Provide: CV(s) of consultant/consultancy team Technical proposal (max 3 pages) detailing understanding, methodology, and prior experience Examples of similar completed work (if available) Interviews expected: Week commencing 9 March 2026 Additional Notes Sightsavers emphasizes diversity and inclusion, encouraging applications from individuals with disabilities.
