Location: Durban or Cape Town, KwaZulu-Natal, South AfricaContract Type: 12-month Internship About the Role SRK Consulting is offering two 12-month internship opportunities for Environmental Geologist Interns, one in Durban and one in Cape Town. The internships provide hands-on training and exposure to environmental geology, including fieldwork, data management, and technical report preparation. Interns will work under the guidance of senior management and develop skills across multidisciplinary environmental projects. Key Responsibilities Interns will participate in projects focused on: Investigating and remediating contaminated land. Monitoring soil, water, and air quality. Conducting environmental site contamination assessments. Undertaking groundwater studies for industrial and mining sites. Managing and interpreting environmental data. Preparing technical reports. Experience and Skills Essential Requirements: Honours degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Geochemistry, or Soil Science. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Willingness to learn and develop professionally. Ability to work collaboratively and independently. Resourcefulness, proactivity, and adaptability across disciplines. South African citizenship, valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of environmental legislation. Experience in reporting, research, data analysis, or groundwater modelling. Proficiency in GIS. Passion for environmental sustainability and applied geology. Preference given to candidates based in Durban or Cape Town.
