Role Overview The Junior Analyst will join SteelWatch’s Data and Analysis Team and work across multiple projects supporting the organisation’s research and campaigning activities. The successful candidate will report directly to the Steel Analyst and collaborate with colleagues across data, communications, and campaign functions. A significant portion of the role will focus on two flagship initiatives: SteelWatch Corporate Scorecard Steelmaker Transformation Tracker These projects assess the climate performance and transition efforts of major steel producers worldwide. The role is designed for candidates seeking professional growth and mentorship while contributing to high-impact climate and sustainability initiatives. Key Responsibilities The Junior Analyst will play a critical role in collecting, maintaining, analysing, and interpreting data related to steel production and decarbonisation trends. Responsibilities include: Corporate Scorecard and Transformation Tracker Support Collecting and analysing data from steelmakers globally Maintaining datasets and supporting data systems Identifying trends and producing analytical insights Supporting publication, launch, and dissemination activities Research and Data Analysis Monitoring steel industry developments and decarbonisation pathways Working with emissions and industrial datasets Supporting research projects and corporate accountability campaigns Analysing announcements from steel producers and industry associations Data Management Maintaining internal databases and data infrastructure Ensuring accuracy, consistency, and accessibility of information Supporting organisational data governance processes Team Collaboration Working closely with campaign, communications, and fundraising teams Providing evidence-based insights for advocacy initiatives Contributing to a collaborative and inclusive remote working culture Candidate Requirements SteelWatch is seeking candidates with strong analytical abilities and a solid technical background related to industry, engineering, or sustainability. Essential qualifications and experience include: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related technical field One to two years of relevant professional or postgraduate experience Knowledge of steel production technologies and industrial decarbonisation Experience working with large datasets and emissions-related information Strong quantitative and analytical skills Excellent written and verbal communication abilities High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy Ability to work across international teams and multiple time zones Candidates should also demonstrate a willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute within a fast-paced and evolving organisational environment.
