Description

Abstract Submission Status: OpenSubmission Deadline: 30 January 2026Event: SVRI Forum 2026Languages Accepted: English, Spanish, French The SVRI Forum 2026 invites researchers, practitioners, policymakers, advocates, and programme implementers to submit abstracts for presentation at one of the world’s leading global forums on violence against women, violence against children, and intersecting forms of gender-based violence. About the Call for Abstracts The Call for Abstracts provides an opportunity to share evidence, practice-based knowledge, and innovative approaches that contribute to prevention, response, and policy reform in contexts affected by violence. Key features of the call include: A rigorous peer-review process led by the SVRI Scientific Committee A strong focus on evidence-based, ethical, and impactful work Emphasis on contributions from low- and middle-income and resource-constrained settings Opportunities for oral, poster, panel, and short-format presentations Types of Abstract Submissions Applicants may choose from the following abstract categories: Research / Programme / Practice-Based Abstracts (Single Submissions) These abstracts describe a single body of work and are reviewed as individual contributions. Key characteristics: Can focus on research, programme implementation, or practice-based knowledge (PbK) May involve multiple authors, but only one abstract is submitted Reviewed on individual merit Selected abstracts may be grouped into thematic panels by the Scientific Committee This format is recommended for applicants presenting findings or lessons from a project or programme that is not part of a coordinated group submission. Panel Abstracts (Group Submissions) Panel abstracts are coordinated submissions that explore a shared theme, issue, or research question through multiple linked perspectives. Panel requirements include: One overarching panel abstract One individual abstract per panellist Contributions from diverse institutions, regions, or sectors Clear thematic coherence across all submissions Important considerations: A single abstract covering the entire panel will not be accepted Panels based on a single study or project will not be considered Panel slots are highly competitive and limited SVRI reserves the right to merge, split, or adjust panels to strengthen the programme Abstract Submission Process Abstract submissions are managed through Oxford Abstracts, the official submission platform for SVRI Forum 2026. The submission process includes: Creation of a user profile on the Oxford Abstracts system Completion and submission of the abstract online Ability to edit abstracts only while they remain incomplete Finalised abstracts cannot be edited after submission Requests for changes to completed submissions must be sent to forums@svri.org. Abstract Format and Content Requirements Abstracts must adhere to the following guidelines: Maximum length: 350 words Working title: Up to 25 words Written in clear, accessible, and plain language Able to stand alone as the sole basis for review Each abstract should clearly outline: The purpose and importance of the study, programme, or initiative The methods or approach used Key findings, outcomes, or learnings Relevance to the field and contribution to knowledge, policy, or practice Presentation Formats Submitters may indicate their preferred presentation format: Oral presentation – Research Oral presentation – Programme or Practice-Based Knowledge Oral presentation as part of a full panel Four-minute presentation on a research study or programme Poster presentation Final decisions on presentation formats rest with the Scientific Committee. Abstract Review Criteria Abstracts will be assessed based on the following criteria: Relevance: Alignment with key themes and current debates Clarity and purpose: Clearly articulated objectives and focus Methods: Appropriate and rigorous methodology and analysis Significance: Importance and applicability of findings or outcomes Contribution: Practical recommendations for future research, policy, or programming Context: Relevance to low- and middle-income or resource-poor settings Ethics: Demonstrated commitment to ethical research and practice Ethical Considerations SVRI Forum 2026 is committed to care, safety, and responsible research practice. Ethical requirements include: Ethics approval or documented exemption from a recognised authority Clear description of participant protection measures where formal approval is not available Evidence of informed consent, confidentiality, and risk management Referral pathways for participants affected by violence Abstracts lacking sufficient ethical consideration may not be accepted.
