The Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) is inviting qualified professionals to submit expressions of interest for a consultancy to design and deliver a structured five-day training programme on the Agricultural Innovation System Policy Practice Index (AIS-PPI) Tool. The consultancy is being offered through the Strengthening Evidence-Based Policy Practice for Food Systems (StEPFFoS) Project, which seeks to strengthen the capacity of stakeholders to use evidence and policy tools to improve food systems and agricultural policy practice. FARA AIS-PPI Consultant Opportunity 2026 The consultancy focuses on the Agricultural Innovation System Policy Practice Index (AIS-PPI) Tool, a framework designed to support analysis and assessment of agricultural innovation systems and policy practice. FARA is seeking a consultant who can develop a practical and structured five-day training programme that enables relevant stakeholders to effectively understand and apply the AIS-PPI Tool in agricultural policy analysis and practice. The selected consultant will therefore need to combine technical expertise with strong training and facilitation skills. This is an opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to capacity strengthening within Africa’s agricultural research and policy ecosystem. About the StEPFFoS Project The consultancy forms part of the Strengthening Evidence-Based Policy Practice for Food Systems (StEPFFoS) Project. The project is focused on strengthening the ability of stakeholders to use evidence effectively when developing, analysing and implementing policies affecting food systems. Through the AIS-PPI training, participants are expected to develop stronger capacity to apply a structured policy assessment tool to agricultural innovation systems and related policy processes. The assignment could therefore be particularly relevant to professionals working across agricultural research, food systems, innovation policy, development programmes and evidence-based policymaking. What Will the Consultant Do? The selected consultant will be responsible for designing and conducting a five-day training programme centred on the AIS-PPI Tool. The training should be structured to provide participants with practical knowledge and skills that they can use in agricultural policy analysis and practice. The consultant is expected to bring an appropriate training methodology that responds to the needs of the intended stakeholders. The assignment will likely require the consultant to: Develop a structured five-day training programme. Design an appropriate training approach and methodology. Facilitate the training sessions. Explain the principles and practical application of the AIS-PPI Tool. Strengthen participants’ capacity to apply the tool. Connect the tool to agricultural policy analysis and practice. Use relevant practical examples and exercises where appropriate.
