Eligibility and Team Requirements The contest is open to: Master’s students currently enrolled at universities worldwide Teams composed of three to five enrolled master’s students Interdisciplinary groups encouraged to collaborate across fields Participants must provide proof of enrolment at the registration stage. Acceptable documents include: Official enrolment certificates Valid student cards Documents clearly indicating name, graduate programme, and recent issuance date If documentation is unavailable at registration, it may be submitted later via email before final confirmation. Categories and Regional Representation Five prizes are awarded, one per regional category, based on the UN Statistics classification of continents: Universities located in Africa Universities located in Asia Universities located in Europe Universities located in North America and Oceania Universities located in Latin America This structure ensures global representation and equitable participation across regions. Important Deadlines For the 2026 edition, participants must observe two key deadlines: Registration Deadline: 24 April 2026 at 23:59 CET Submission Deadline: 11 July 2026 at 23:59 CET The difference between the two deadlines is important: By the registration deadline, teams must complete the application form and submit proof of enrolment. After registration, teams have 11 weeks to prepare and submit their full proposal before the final submission deadline. Selection Process The evaluation process is rigorous and multi-staged: Academic Steering Committee Review An interdisciplinary academic committee reviews submissions. Three submissions per category are selected for publication on the competition website. Independent Jury Review Selected submissions are evaluated by a jury composed of experts from academic, governmental, and private sector backgrounds. Finalist Presentation in Geneva Five finalist teams (one per continent) are invited to Geneva. Teams deliver an oral presentation defending their proposal. The session includes a public Q&A with the jury. The awards ceremony follows a high-level keynote speech. This process ensures fairness, academic quality, and real-world relevance.
