The Sankofa Impact Collective is seeking a thoughtful and values-driven Marketing Manager to steward its public voice and ensure the brand is communicated with clarity, consistency, and integrity. This part-time, contract role is fully remote and open to candidates globally. As an emerging organisation, Sankofa recognises that marketing content is often the first point of contact for its community, collaborators, and partners. The Marketing Manager plays a critical role in shaping that first impression, ensuring that public-facing messaging reflects the lived reality of the community rather than an aspirational or exaggerated narrative. This role serves as a bridge between Sankofa’s internal culture and its external storytelling, grounding visibility in truth, trust, and discernment as the organisation grows. Role Overview The Marketing Manager is responsible for translating Sankofa’s mission, values, and lived community experience into clear, accessible, and resonant messaging. Marketing at Sankofa is not focused on growth for growth’s sake, but on helping the right people understand what the organisation is, what it offers, and whether it is aligned with them. This is a strategic execution role rather than a trend-driven or scale-at-all-costs position. It requires thoughtful storytelling, strong judgment, and alignment between message, capacity, and values. The Marketing Manager ensures that Sankofa’s public presence is honest, coherent, and reflective of real experience. Key channels under this role include social media, email communication, and campaign execution, with an emphasis on consistency and integrity across all touchpoints. Why This Role Matters Without intentional marketing stewardship, even deeply mission-driven work can become unclear or misrepresented. This role protects trust as Sankofa grows by ensuring that visibility is grounded in lived experience and internal reality. The Marketing Manager helps create clarity for potential community members, collaborators, and partners, allowing them to make informed decisions about engagement. In doing so, the role supports sustainable growth, meaningful relationships, and long-term alignment. What the Marketing Manager Will Own The Marketing Manager will take ownership of how Sankofa shows up publicly, ensuring a steady and values-aligned presence across platforms. Success in this role is measured not by volume or virality, but by resonance, clarity, and trust. Core areas of responsibility include: Brand Voice and Public RepresentationEnsuring a consistent, authentic tone and narrative that reflects Sankofa’s mission and community values. Social Media Management and Content ExecutionPlanning, creating, publishing, and engaging with content across social platforms. Marketing Campaigns and Email CommunicationDeveloping newsletters, announcements, and campaign-based sequences that guide audiences from interest to meaningful action. Visibility, Outreach, and CollaborationsSupporting partnerships and outreach efforts through aligned and intentional marketing. Marketing Data Insights and TrackingReviewing engagement metrics, open rates, and campaign performance to inform decisions without chasing vanity metrics. Experience and Background Sankofa is looking for someone who combines strategic thinking with strong execution skills and cultural fluency. The role requires hands-on ownership as well as discernment about when and how to amplify messaging. Ideal candidates typically bring: 3–6 years of experience in marketing, communications, brand, or content roles Proven experience owning marketing execution end to end Hands-on social media management, including planning, copywriting, posting, and engagement Strong writing and storytelling skills, particularly in translating complex or values-driven ideas into clear messaging Experience with email marketing and basic funnels, such as newsletters and campaign sequences Comfort using data to guide decisions while maintaining a values-led approach A strong understanding of brand consistency across platforms Experience with mission-driven, community-centred, or early-stage organisations The ability to balance creativity with restraint and discernment A Note on Fit This role is well suited to someone who values clarity over hype, alignment over algorithms, and thoughtful growth over constant output. Prior nonprofit experience is not required, but candidates must be comfortable stewarding a brand where trust, care, and integrity are central. Role Details and Application Information Part-time, contract role Approximately 20 hours per week Fully remote (global) Compensation: $25–$30 per hour, depending on experience Opportunity for increased hours and long-term growth as capacity allows Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
