Youth Climate Justice Fund 2026 – Call for Applications YCJF supports emerging youth-led climate justice and socio-environmental groups through a participatory, values-driven decision-making process. The fund provides resources to strengthen grassroots leadership, advance climate justice, and amplify community-centered action. YCJF grants are available for groups working at local or national levels, with awards of up to USD 20,000 for local initiatives and USD 40,000 for national initiatives. The program seeks to invest in youth-led organizations that are fostering inclusive, intersectional, and accountable climate and socio-environmental movements. Who Should Apply YCJF invites applications from groups, networks, or collectives that meet the following eligibility criteria: Youth-led Leadership: The majority of decision-making power must rest with individuals aged 35 years or younger. Leadership roles should reflect the participation and influence of young people. Geographic Eligibility: Groups should be based in East Asia and Pacific, Middle East and North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, South Asia, Europe and Central Asia, or North America. Applicants from high-income countries must belong to underrepresented or marginalized communities. Groups focusing solely on international engagements without community-based work are ineligible. Inclusive and Intersectional Organizing: Organizations should demonstrate a commitment to collective action, intersectional movement building, and equitable decision-making. Non-partisan and Non-violent: Initiatives must operate legally, without affiliation to partisan politics, and uphold non-violence principles. YCJF specifically encourages applications from groups who are: Cultivating diverse leadership rooted in fair, equitable, and community-powered climate action. Raising ambitions and commitments around climate and socio-environmental justice. Holding policymakers accountable to climate promises and advancing community power. Grantmaking Process YCJF’s participatory and multi-step process ensures transparency, regional relevance, and alignment with the fund’s values: Call for Applications Open: The call is open for four weeks. Youth-led climate and environmental justice groups worldwide are welcome to apply. Non-English speaking applicants can submit proposals in Arabic, English, French, Hindi, Portuguese, Spanish, or Swahili. Initial Screening: Regional Committees, supported by YCJF staff, review applications to ensure groups meet eligibility requirements and are aligned with the fund’s core values and objectives. Regional Committee Review: Committees assess applications against regional priorities, conduct follow-up conversations to understand group needs, and develop a shortlist of aligned organizations. Joint Decision-Making: Shortlisted applications are reviewed by the Grants Committee and Regional Committees, which make final funding decisions collaboratively to ensure alignment with YCJF values and regional needs. Due Diligence: Selected groups work with YCJF staff and committees to complete administrative, financial, and operational checks necessary to receive funding. Grant Awarding: YCJF partners facilitate funding disbursement, enabling groups to implement their projects.
