The organization manages a global network of more than 200 media professionals and supports projects aimed at: Strengthening independent journalism Improving media sustainability Promoting access to reliable information Supporting ethical reporting Building media sector resilience Its programmes focus on training, mentoring, grants management, and institutional development across multiple regions globally. About the AGILE Project The recruitment forms part of the European Union-funded AGILE Project — Advancing Global Innovation and Learning Effectively. The initiative supports independent media organizations and media professionals through: Mentorship programmes Grants administration Capacity-building activities Media sustainability initiatives Operational support for journalism ecosystems The project seeks to strengthen the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of media institutions in East Africa. Position Overview Thomson Foundation is seeking Project Coordinators located in: Kenya Uganda Tanzania The consultancy role involves supporting project implementation and ensuring compliance with donor and organizational requirements. Key Responsibilities Selected consultants will support: Project coordination and implementation Grants administration and monitoring Mentorship programme coordination Financial and operational record keeping Compliance with EU and Thomson Media requirements Coordination with mentors and participants Communication with project stakeholders Reporting and administrative support The role requires close collaboration with project teams, independent media actors, and programme participants across East Africa. Required Skills and Experience Applicants should demonstrate strong experience in: Project coordination Grant management Donor compliance Programme administration Media development initiatives Candidates should also possess a solid understanding of the media landscape in Kenya, Uganda, or Tanzania.
