The global anti-corruption organisation Transparency International is recruiting a Communications and Media Specialist (m/f/d) to join its International Secretariat in Berlin, Germany. The full-time hybrid role forms part of the organisation’s Communications Team and supports its global mission of building a world free from corruption. With more than 100 chapters worldwide and headquarters in Berlin, Transparency International leads international efforts to promote accountability, integrity and transparency in government, business and civil society. About the Role The Communications and Media Specialist will play a central role in advancing Transparency International’s brand, influencing, and engagement objectives. The position combines press office responsibilities with the development and execution of integrated communications and media strategies to support high-priority campaigns. The successful candidate will contribute to efforts aimed at influencing decision-makers and mobilising public support around key global issues, including political integrity, climate governance, human rights and economic transparency. This position reports to the Head of Communications and is offered at Band PF2 within the organisation’s salary structure. Key Responsibilities The Communications and Media Specialist will: Design and implement integrated media and communications strategies aligned with priority brand and influencing goals Support press office operations by managing media requests, identifying reactive opportunities, and briefing spokespeople Develop compelling messaging using framing techniques to strengthen advocacy campaigns Draft high-quality press releases, opinion pieces and media pitches Collaborate with digital teams to produce online articles, social media content and email communications Guide internal colleagues through the publications process to ensure brand alignment Build strong relationships across Transparency International’s global movement Deliver communications training and promote best practices across teams Contribute to broader communications planning and departmental operations The role requires someone comfortable working in a fast-paced international environment with competing priorities and tight deadlines. Candidate Profile Applicants should have: At least five years of professional experience in strategic media and communications roles, ideally within a campaigning or advocacy context Experience working in a press office and managing media relations A degree or professional qualification in communications, journalism, social sciences, economics or a related field Excellent writing and editing skills in English at native-speaker standard Strong ability to translate complex policy issues into accessible and persuasive messaging Strong organisational and project management skills Experience working collaboratively in international teams Commitment to Transparency International’s mission and values Knowledge of political, economic, climate or human rights issues is considered an advantage. Contract Details Location: Hybrid within Germany, with a minimum of four days per month in the Berlin office (Alt-Moabit 96, 10559 Berlin) Working Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week) Contract Duration: Initial fixed-term contract of two years, with potential extension subject to organisational needs, funding and performance Start Date: Between mid-June and mid-July 2026 Salary: Starting at EUR 42,000 gross per year, depending on relevant experience Benefits and Working Environment Transparency International offers a competitive compensation and benefits package designed to support employee wellbeing and work-life balance.
