The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has issued an external advertisement inviting applications for temporary employment as Field Interviewers under the Uganda National Household Survey (UNHS). Job Overview The Field Interviewer position is a temporary role designed to support large-scale household data collection. Successful candidates will work under the supervision of a Statistician and contribute directly to the Uganda National Household Survey. The primary responsibility is to ensure accurate, high-quality data collection from assigned households within designated areas. Key Responsibilities Field Interviewers will be required to carry out the following duties: Participate in mandatory training sessions before field deployment Locate and identify assigned households for interviews Collect accurate data from households in designated survey areas Properly handle, use, and return all field materials and equipment Document and report field challenges promptly to supervisors Perform any additional duties assigned during the survey period These responsibilities require accuracy, discipline, and adherence to statistical data collection standards. Minimum Requirements Applicants must meet specific academic and technical qualifications to be considered for the role. Required qualifications include: Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least a Credit in Mathematics and English Certificate in Computer Applications (added advantage) Experience Requirements At least one year of continuous experience in data collection activities This experience is essential to ensure familiarity with fieldwork procedures and survey methodologies. Required Skills and Competencies Candidates must demonstrate strong technical, interpersonal, and analytical abilities. Key skills include: Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with diverse communities Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Organizational and planning skills, including report writing Attention to detail and accuracy in data recording Professionalism, integrity, and teamwork Additional desirable attributes include patience, tact, diplomacy, and adaptability when handling field challenges.
