The Uganda Law Council has officially opened applications for the 2027 Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice (Bar Course) at the Law Development Centre (LDC). The programme is Uganda’s mandatory professional legal training course for eligible Bachelor of Laws (LLB) graduates seeking qualification for legal practice. LDC will conduct one intake only for the 2027 academic year, with the Bar Course running from January to December 2027. All admissions will be based on successful completion of the online application process and performance in the mandatory pre-entry examination. The programme combines courtroom advocacy, legal drafting, professional ethics, litigation procedures, and practical legal skills essential for future advocates. Eligible candidates include: Holders of an LLB degree awarded by a Ugandan university accredited by NCHE in consultation with the Law Council before enrolment into the law programme. Holders of an LLB degree from a foreign university operating under the Common Law system, provided they obtain prior written clearance from the Uganda Law Council before submitting their application. Applicants who meet Uganda’s minimum university entry requirements of two principal passes at A-Level obtained at the same sitting (or equivalent) and five O-Level passes obtained at the same sitting (or equivalent). Candidates with foreign qualifications who fail to obtain Law Council clearance will not be considered for admission. Admission Notifications Shortlisted applicants will receive an official email from the LDC Admissions Office by 12 October 2026 indicating their examination venue, reporting instructions, and allocated seat number.
