Key Objectives of the Consultancy The consultant will provide technical expertise and capacity-building support to government institutions, focusing on integrating gender perspectives into migration policies and services. Core objectives include: Strengthening understanding of the gendered nature of migration Supporting the transition from policy commitments to practical implementation Enhancing government responses to gender-based violence affecting migrant women Promoting coordination between institutions and stakeholders Main Responsibilities The consultant will be responsible for both training delivery and advisory support. Key tasks include: 1. Training Design and Delivery Develop training materials, including modules, presentations, and evaluation tools Conduct in-person workshops in Gauteng and Western Cape Facilitate interactive sessions and group discussions Submit detailed training reports with recommendations 2. Technical Assistance to Government Conduct a gender and capacity needs assessment Develop practical tools such as gender checklists and guidance documents Provide recommendations for improving policies and standard operating procedures Deliver tailored training for officials at national and provincial levels 3. Ongoing Advisory Support Offer expert guidance on gender mainstreaming gaps Strengthen institutional capacity for gender-responsive service delivery Duration and Work Structure Contract duration: 6 months Total workload: Approximately 50.5 working days Work setup: Home-based with travel to Gauteng and Western Cape Travel costs are covered in line with UN policies Required Qualifications and Experience Applicants must demonstrate strong expertise in gender, migration, and capacity building: Education Master’s degree in gender studies, migration, public policy, social sciences, or related field (Bachelor’s degree + additional experience may be accepted) Experience Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience Proven experience in training design and facilitation Strong knowledge of migration governance and gender equality frameworks Experience working with government institutions and diverse stakeholders Skills Excellent communication and facilitation abilities Strong analytical and report-writing skills Familiarity with participatory and learner-centered approaches Fluency in English is required.
