Applications Open: UN Women is recruiting an Individual International Consultant – Editor to provide editorial support for key project reporting under the Markets for Change (M4C) Project, based in the UN Women Fiji Multi-Country Office (MCO). This home-based consultancy offers a strategic opportunity to apply high-level editorial expertise to programme and donor reporting that supports gender-responsive economic empowerment across the Pacific region. Deadline: 22 January 2026Duty Station: Home-based (work during standard Fiji working hours)Duration: Up to 30 working days within 6 months About UN Women and the M4C Project UN Women, the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women, works with partners across the Pacific to eliminate discrimination and expand women’s economic and social rights. The UN Women Fiji MCO serves 14 Pacific Island countries and territories, including Fiji, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, and Vanuatu, under its Strategic Note 2023–2027. T he office implements programmes aligned with the UN Pacific Sustainable Development Framework and the 2050 Blue Pacific Strategy, working across areas like ending violence against women and girls (EVAWG), women’s economic empowerment (WEE), humanitarian action, and governance. The Markets for Change (M4C) Project is a core initiative within the WEE portfolio, promoting gender-responsive, inclusive, and safe marketplaces across rural and urban areas in Fiji, Samoa, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu. Implemented in partnership with UNDP and generously supported by the Government of Australia, the M4C initiative strengthens capacity, governance, and economic empowerment for diverse market vendors, especially women and vendors with disabilities. Purpose of the Consultancy UN Women is currently compiling the Annual Donor Reports for 2025 for both the regional M4C programme and bilateral country streams in the Solomon Islands and Samoa. To support this process, UN Women seeks a consultant editor with proven experience in writing and editing complex programme documents in clear, results-focused English. The consultant will ensure that all reports meet high editorial standards, align with UN Women templates and style, and effectively communicate outcomes to donors and partners. The assignment will involve substantive editorial work on multiple annual reports, ensuring coherence, clarity, accuracy, and reader-friendly presentation. Scope of Work Under the supervision of the UN Women Fiji MCO Representative and in collaboration with M4C thematic managers and regional teams, the consultant editor will: 1. Edit the Regional Annual Donor Report (2025) Review and edit the draft M4C Regional Annual Donor Report 2025 and annexes. Ensure content quality, consistency, and adherence to a 20-page limit (excluding annexes). Apply results-based language consistent with UN Women editorial standards. 2. Edit the Solomon Islands and Samoa Bilateral Reports Review and edit the M4C Solomon Islands Bilateral Annual Donor Report (2025) and annexes. Review and edit the M4C Samoa Bilateral Annual Donor Report (2025) and annexes. Collaborate with M4C team members to clarify content and address gaps. 3. Drafting and Finalisation Timelines Submit the first complete draft of the Regional Report by 20 February 2026. Finalise the Regional Report following internal review and clearance by 1 April 2026. Submit first drafts of the Solomon Islands and Samoa Bilateral Reports by 30 April 2026. Finalise both bilateral reports by 25 May 2026. 4. Quality and Consistency Ensure all reports follow a consistent format and style as used in previous M4C Annual Donor Reports. Incorporate team feedback and revisions into final deliverables. Deliver high-quality documentation suitable for donor use and public dissemination. All work will be completed remotely, with documents written in English and returned in electronic format. UN Women will provide background materials and logistical support as needed. Competencies and Qualifications Core Values Integrity Professionalism Respect for Diversity Functional Competencies Attention to detail, including grammar and formatting accuracy Strong analytical skills and synthesis of complex material Effective time management and ability to meet deadlines Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and standard office tools Required Education and Experience Master’s degree or advanced degree in social sciences, international development, communications, or a related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of relevant experience may be accepted. 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in programme development, writing, and editing programme documents. Demonstrated expertise in producing high-quality, reader-friendly English reports. Strong understanding of gender-sensitive and results-based programming. Familiarity with international development and UN systems is an asset. Fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
